This September, Inspiredu’s Digital Summit will bring together community leaders, industry experts, and innovators to provide digital access through education. The Summit will feature engaging, informative, and inspiring breakout sessions focused on digital opportunities framed by the UN’s Global Goals. We’ll explore how technology, education, and collaboration can strengthen communities and create meaningful opportunities through 2030. Throughout the summit, we’ll focus on six Global Goals that closely align with Inspiredu’s mission:

Through the Inspiredu x SMASH Digital Literacy Workshop, SMASH Atlanta scholars received digital literacy training and laptop access to help them stay connected, complete assignments, and build skills for the future.

For Mr. Gerald, a high school student and SMASH scholar, having his own laptop will make schoolwork easier, especially when assignments require multiple websites, online tools, or educational videos that may not always be accessible on a school-issued device.

The workshop also helped strengthen key digital skills. Mr. Gerald shared that he gained a deeper understanding of online safety, including how to recognize phishing attempts and pay closer attention to links that may look legitimate but could put personal information at risk. He also explored financial literacy topics, including the importance of credit and how it can affect future opportunities.

With this device, Mr. Gerald is already thinking about what comes next. He hopes to revisit coding, continue exploring Python, and build on his interests in computer science and financial literacy.

The Inspiredu x SMASH workshop was a successful step toward greater access, confidence, and opportunity for students preparing for their futures.

The 2026 Inspiredu Digital Summit is designed to meet participants wherever they are on their digital journey.

Taking place September 17–18 at the Inspiredu Volunteer & Training Center, this two-day event will feature breakout sessions that connect digital opportunity with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

-Mid-Level Professional: Discover new approaches to team management, productivity, problem-solving, and professional growth.

-New Professional: Build knowledge of industry standards, career opportunities, workplace expectations, and pathways to advancement.

-Digital Learner: Strengthen practical digital skills through interactive sessions covering artificial intelligence, cloud services, and cybersecurity.

-Age of AI: Examine how artificial intelligence is transforming work, education, communication, and community impact, with a focus on practical tools and responsible use.

- Women in Technology (WIT): Hear from women across the technology sector and explore leadership, career development, mentorship, and opportunities to increase representation.

For Mrs. Simpson, receiving a laptop means being able to do more with greater ease, independence, and confidence.

After her computer stopped working, many everyday tasks became harder. She could still use her phone, but filling out forms, accessing MyChart, managing accounts, and navigating important online tools on a small screen was not always easy.

Through Inspiredu’s Adult Digital Literacy workshop, Mrs. Simpson received a device and practical skills to help her stay safer online, including recognizing scams, avoiding suspicious links, and protecting her passwords.

Now, as she looks toward retirement, she is excited about new possibilities, including taking online courses, learning Microsoft Office, exploring Canva, and even creating videos to celebrate family memories.

Digital skills are not just about technology. They help people feel prepared, connected, and capable in the moments that matter.

For families, digital access can mean less waiting, more learning, and greater confidence.

At Inspiredu’s recent Family Learning Workshop with Fickett Elementary School, Mrs. Lawson shared what receiving a laptop means for her family of five children. With only one laptop at home, her children have had to share time for homework and school projects. Now, with a second device, they will be able to take turns more easily and finish their work more quickly.

The workshop also helped build confidence. Mrs. Lawson shared that the term “digital literacy” felt intimidating at first, but once the class began, she realized the skills were both approachable and meaningful. She learned more about tools like Google Docs and Google Workspace, how they compare with the Microsoft programs she knew, and how to better support her children’s schoolwork.

She also walked away with new knowledge about online safety, including how to recognize phishing attempts, avoid suspicious links, and pay closer attention to spelling or grammar errors that may signal a scam.

Most importantly, Mrs. Lawson is already thinking about what comes next. She hopes to attend more Inspiredu workshops to build her skills in areas such as healthcare technology, including using tools like MyChart.

This is the impact of digital opportunity: families gaining devices, skills, and confidence to support learning at home and to navigate today’s digital world.
