Different roles. Shared responsibility. At Protostream, principal-level staffing means bringing experienced people who can communicate clearly, make smart decisions, and take ownership when it counts.

The technology matters. The team behind it matters more.

Meet Ben. Alex says if Ben had a role in the live events industry, he’d be an Emcee. He knows how to work a room, makes everyone feel welcome, and adapts quickly when the plan changes. Just keep thunder, lightning, and pyrotechnics off the show schedule and he’ll take it from there.

More gear doesn’t automatically make a production more reliable. A smarter system does.

Our job is to design the full signal path, build in thoughtful redundancy, and create predictable audio outcomes across live, remote, and hybrid environments. When showtime arrives, nobody should be wondering whether the system is going to work.

The goal isn’t a longer gear list. It’s a system the whole team can trust.

Some of our best work is classified.

We can’t always tell you the client, but we can tell you how we work. When a production is protected by an NDA, discretion is part of the deliverable. Client names, venue details, content, credentials, and behind-the-scenes moments stay behind the curtain. But an important part of the story can still be told.

How we plan. How we collaborate. How we solve problems. How we take responsibility when the stakes are high. Some names will stay classified, but the standard doesn’t have to.

Meet Sadie. If Sadie had a role in the live events industry, she’d be a Lighting Designer. She knows her angles, always finds the best lighting, and would make sure the talent looks just as good as she does on stage. Being incredibly photogenic doesn’t hurt either.

Meet Squishy. Chris says if Squishy had a role in the live events industry, he’d be a PA. He just wants everyone to be happy, always shows up with “gifts,” and never wants to cause a fuss.

Every production comes with a responsibility to the message. Some events bring that responsibility into sharper focus.

At this year’s Disability:IN Global Conference, technology was often part of the message itself, from accessibility tools to workplace innovations designed to make experiences more inclusive. Our role was to make sure the production supported those conversations clearly and thoughtfully.

There are projects you complete, and there are projects you carry with you.

Working alongside Lighthouse Creative Works, we supported ViiV Healthcare's sponsored plenary at the National AIDS Latinx Conference. The session combined music from Latinx DJ and musician Al Cantar with honest stories from HIV-positive LGBTQIA+ community members, creating a space that encouraged others to seek treatment without fear or shame.

Moments like this are a reminder that production can support something much bigger than the equipment. Sometimes it's about helping a story reach the people who need to hear it.
