On average, it takes a victim of narcissistic abuse 7 attempts before leaving their abuser for good. The most unsafe time for a victim of narcissistic abuse is when you decide to leave, in some cases. The abuser may sense that you are leaving and they are losing power. Losing power and control over a victim is one of the greatest threats to an abuser and thus they may act in dangerous or malignant ways to regain control over their victim especially when they do not have other narcissistic supply or they have been exposed.
