Janie's Advice: Why Africa Rewards Early Planning!

As Janie shared in her interview with The Points Guy, Africa is not a destination where waiting for a last-minute deal usually works in your favor. In fact, the opposite is often true. The best safari experiences require thoughtful planning, early booking, and expert guidance to make sure every piece of the journey works beautifully together.

Here’s why planning ahead for your Africa adventure matters:
1. The best lodges are small. Many top safari camps have only 6 to 12 tents or suites, and the most sought-after properties can sell out 12 to 18 months in advance.
2. Safari logistics are complex. Bush flights, luggage limits, regional schedules, and remote lodge locations all need to be carefully coordinated.
3. Prime experiences are limited. Gorilla trekking permits, Great Migration viewing, and high-demand safari regions often require booking well ahead.
4. Waiting can cost more. Last-minute availability may mean less desirable lodges, awkward flight routes, or ultra-luxury options at much higher prices.
