One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced as a clinician is supporting people through anxiety that is completely RATIONAL & VALID!
The uncertainty is real. Sometimes life has no guarantees to offer.
For me, it’s about helping people build a life that can hold uncertainty without being consumed by it.
Maybe hope isn’t the absence of the unknown. Maybe it’s learning you can survive it.
A lot of yall are SEASONED THERAPISTS … let’s chat! What worries you most for the next generation of clinicians? Is it AI? 🤖 .. is it Social Media? Or something completely different?
As I get into my era I’ve been exploring - what is it that this next wave of needs more of, less of, and specific support with. I know yall got me with the intel!
Change asks us to let go, oftentimes, before we’re ready. That’s not fear of the future. It’s honoring what was.
As clinicians, we help people build the capacity to grieve, so change feels possible.
Drop a word for what change feels like right now. Fear, grief, relief, freedom? There’s no wrong answer.

“The function of freedom is to free someone else.” — Toni Cade Bambara.
I’ve reflected deeply on this during Women’s History and Social Work Month. But the truth is—I can’t do liberating work if I’m depleted. Freedom begins with me honoring my own capacity. So I stepped back to pour into myself—and now I step forward to challenge you: What’s one thing you can do that makes you feel free? And how do you support someone else’s freedom today?

Social Work Month always reminds me of the depth of what we carry; but this time, I let it remind me of what I deserve to carry too:
Rest.
Clarity.
AND Care that doesn’t have to be earned.
How did you honor & care for yourself this month? Put it in the comments! 🤗💕

Learning about an artist that is new to you is like unlocking a part of yourself you didn’t know was there. Special shout out to & her crew for doing artsy things with me at The Museum of Contemporary Arts in Chicago. We both fell in love with the sculpturist who is a rabbit hole of wonder once you get into him. Nick Cave says “Art should always be an exchange” … a therapeutic experience 😉
