Eco Sun Farms is a hydroponic farm located in Dekalb County.

Our vision is to increase accessibility to nutrient rich, pesticide free, locally grown, healthy, and affordable foods. Our mission is to be stewards of the environment using sustainable agriculture techniques including rainwater collection and the use of solar energy, to inspire and educate youth and adults around planning, selecting, preparing and eating healthy food. Our farm not only grows food, but also teaches individuals how to use the food in budget friendly ways to prepare quick and healthy meals.

Happy Autumn. I never thought I’d be so happy to welcome the cooler weather but this summer’s heat has worn me down, chased my motivation away and at times has been downright depressing. Looking forward to a new attitude filled with joy and hope for the next season.

Meet the hardest working members of Eco Sun Farms team🪱!! While we’re busy growing 🍄 , vegetables 🥕 , herbs 🌿, etc., there’s another whole operation happening behind the scenes. Our worms are busy turning organic material into a nutrient rich vermicompost - a valuable soil amendment. And sometimes… we turn it into compost tea 🌱, creating another way to put those nutrients back into our growing systems. What sometimes looks like waste in one part of the farm can become a resource somewhere else! From scraps ➡️ worms ➡️ vermicompost ➡️ back to the farm ♻️. We’re always looking for ways to waste less, reuse more and make the most of the resources we have. Nothing wasted. Everything connected. 🌱🪱

One year ago, we had a pretty exciting surprise… 🐝 Our Eco Sun Farms lotion bar took 1st place at the Georgia Beekeepers Association Honey Show!! 🏆 At the time we were thrilled just to have our little farm-made lotion bar recognized. What started with beeswax from our hives, botanical oils, and a lot of experimenting has continued to grow. Fast forward one year… Our lotion bars are more being carried at Joyful Jarra in Avondale Estates!🎉 It’s pretty special to look back and see where this little product has taken us. If you haven’t had a chance to try this amazing bar, come visit us at the farmers markets where you can try a sample!! Decatur -Wednesdays, EAV - every other Thursday, Oakhurst & Dunwoody - every other Saturday

This big goofy furball is my new HERO!! This weekend I heard a bunch of commotion in the chicken coop. I went over to see a Peregrine falcon flying through the run. The dog started barking and immediately called him over to the chicken run door. He was hesitant to go in since he knows he’s not allowed in but as soon as I told him to go in he ran, grabbed the falcon in his mouth, and held him there (gently). I ran inside to grab my phone to call my son out. My son coaxed the falcon to the run door and using a metal rod got him to let go of the door and he carried him outside on the rod like he was a pet! Two heros, one day, and all chickens were safe and accounted for. What a close call. All of the holes in the netting on the run ceiling have since been repaired!!! 🐓🐓 🐶🐾❤️

Thank you to all of those folks who attended the mushroom 🍄 growing workshop during Soil Festival. Together we built straw buckets inoculated with pink oyster mushroom mycelium. If you haven’t peeked inside your bucket, 🛑 stop what you’re doing right now and go look. You should see a network of bright white mycelium growing all over your straw. Remember don’t place your bucket in direct sun, a very hot place in your house, or in a place where you forgot you had it. The last thing you want is to miss when your mushrooms are ready to eat. You’re so close to having mushrooms, I can’t wait!! Send pictures and let me know how it’s going.

From soil to self-care, calendula carries its healing story every step of the way. 🌼
We grow calendula on our farm, then slowly infuse the flowers into nourishing oils used in our bath and body products. This gentle process captures calendula’s natural skin-soothing properties, creating products that support restoration, comfort, and care—just as nature intended. #
