I don’t want a decorated home.
When people walk into my home, I want it to feel like a space they have quietly known for years. Somewhere familiar, and warm and cozy. Like being enveloped in a hug. And Nothing looks fussy or pretentious.
That’s a collected home. There are no links to viral trends. Nothing looks too new, different furniture eras and styles blend, sentimental items are displayed prominently, and it’s not cluttered, it’s intentional. 🏡

In the neutral world of home decor on social media, be bold.
I painted our dining room Hint of Mint by Benjamin Moore thinking the higher light reflective value (70) on the light side of the paint spectrum would brighten the room.
Instead it just looked flat and dull.
When I decided to try a different color I went with Benjamin Moore French Horn (LRV of 32). The darker shade of gold gave this room so much depth and elegance and created a wonderful moody vibe to showcase the dark woods of my antique and vintage furniture.
This room pushed me past my comfort zone. Although I am no stranger to rich paint colors, I honestly have always thought a lighter shade was best for a room with limited natural light.
It is just paint. I hope this inspires you to ignore everything you have been taught about paint and try something new.

Sunday Stills.
First I dreamed it.
Then I saw it.
I found this 1890s tall narrow dresser with a drop down desk a few weeks ago. It has a history, having once belonged to former Florida Gov. Cary Hardee in the 1930’s. It was frankly not in my budget because we have a couple of renovation project projects we want to work on.
I dreamed about it.
The following weekend we drove to Monroe, Georgia to the Cotton Mills shoppes with the intention being to talk myself out of the antique piece. I found nothing.
I came home and dreamed again.
This past weekend, we went to Madison, Georgia to the incredible antique shoppes there. Again, I found nothing to compete with how much I felt I needed the antique secretary.
Pleaded my case with the antique dealer who was selling this piece, came up with a price that satisfied both of us, and now it’s in the corner of my dining room.
I am still working on styling it, everything currently in this corner is Thrifted. That makes me happy. Such an elegant cozy corner. I often think of my home. It’s just a series of cozy corners I have decorated.

Autumn views…
Some captures from my event yesterday with ANTIQUE FARM HOUSE
The brass buck bowl is my favorite from yesterday’s event, followed by the wonderful tea caddy, and the large ginger jar in the center of my dining room table. I actually received that piece in the spring, and I’ve had so much fun styling it throughout the seasons.
