Today marks 21 years since Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects launched on PS2 in North America, bringing a dark, gritty, street-brawling edge to the Marvel Universe.

Looking back, taking iconic heroes like Spider-Man, Wolverine, and Venom and dropping them into fully destructible 3D arenas alongside EA's original lineup of Imperfects was pure mid-2000s attitude. Tearing up the pavement, picking up cars or light poles to hurl across the map, and executing brutal environmental Finishing Moves gave comic book brawlers a uniquely heavy, visceral feel.

It captured that edgy alternative-comic era like few other games did. Unleashing Wolverine’s berserker rage in a ruined city, tossing friends through entire buildings in local multiplayer, and hearing that dark, heavy soundtrack punch through PS2 speakers is a core memory for comic book fans. A gritty, action-packed cult classic of its era.

How are you liking the Wolverine game, bub? If you’re anything like me you’ve been playing the new Insomniac Wolverine game all week and unlocking various skins for Wolverine! I’ve managed to unlock my last suit today and figured it would be a fun idea to show off a few action figures next to suits from the game! Some aren’t exact (the Ultimate figure is actually based on X-Treme X-Men) but it’s a fun non-comprehensive comparison! What’s your favorite suit in game? Mine might be New X-Men because he had that outfit way back in the X2 Wolverine’s Revenge game 🙌

Marvel Legends Elektra (Red Suit) Action Figure Comparison! Over 20 years of toy history and advancement comes together in this comparison to highlight how cool the various versions of Elektra Natchios in her trademark red ninja duds were! Toybiz Elektra had an incredible range of motion, while the “Dark Age” of Marvel Legends Toys R Us 2-pack version from 2008 gave us an improved silhouette. It took nearly a decade to get another classic Elektra in the Sp//dr BAF wave that was an updated version of the character to go alongside other modern figures. The newest release combines a seamless silhouette with added pinless joints plus better articulation with double jointed elbows and a lower abdominal crunch, alongside sculpted arm wraps. I’ve enjoyed them all for different reasons over the years. I’m glad they’re giving folks a chance at her most iconic costume! 👏

Marvel Legends Hawkeye Action Figure Comparison! These aren’t really the exact same costume, the one from 2013 is the Marvel NOW! costume based on Terry Dodson artwork while the new one is pretty clearly based on the Matt Fraction/David Aja run of comics from 2012. The older figure is a mix of different influences (still using a Jeremy Renner head from a previous Avengers movie figure) and some other promotional looks from the 2012-2013 era when they were revamping Hawkeye costume wise to more closely resemble his film counterpart. I loved that older figure but this new one looks way better with the pinless tech and texturing and the whole sculpt really! It’s fun seeing toy progression over a whole decade 🙌

New(ish) Marvel Legends were revealed today! Several were shown off at SDCC and we have some fun retro Spider-Man card rereleases (I’ll buy Carnage just for the Maximum Carnage deco on the box) but as far as new I will say I’ve always liked the Matt Fraction Hawkeye look, Elektra is one I see people complaining about needing rereleased, and the Santa Spidey, Doom Spidey, and Micronauts are a much needed comic to delve into plastic form for! What was your favorite reveal from today?

I grew up with the original X-Men trilogy, so of course when I saw Shawn Ashmore at Dragon Con yesterday I had to stop for a photo and autograph! His Bobby Drake/Iceman had such a fun rivalry with Pyro! I’ve been such a fan of his and his brother for years! From Smallville, to The Boys, to Iceman, he’s so cool! He couldn’t have been nicer and even retook the photo a couple times! Thank you Dragon*Con for the opportunity 🥶

My X-Men 97 cast signed poster is coming along quite nicely! I met Matthew Waterson and Ross Marquand at DragonCon yesterday to add a few more and I’ve got to say I’m extremely happy with it! They’re both so awesome! I love it 🙌
