✨ MEET OUR GALLERY OF THE STARS: ANNELISE ✨
At just 2 years and 10 months old, Annelise was diagnosed with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA).
Her journey to a diagnosis included visits with physical therapists, an orthopedic doctor, imaging specialists, and ultimately surgery at Children’s Hospital Colorado—where a rheumatologist was able to provide answers for her family.
Throughout it all, Annelise has had an incredible advocate by her side. Her mom, Alondra, trusted her instincts when she noticed concerns with Annelise’s gait and limited range of motion and continued seeking answers until she found them. Today, Alondra not only advocates fiercely for her daughter but also supports the juvenile arthritis community as a support group leader and advocate.
And today, Annelise is celebrating an incredible milestone: 15 months in unmedicated remission. ❤️
Outside of her arthritis journey, Annelise loves just being a kid. She loves Toy Story, playing at the park, going to the mountains, and singing in the car. Her Jingle Bell Run team, Chocolate Milks with Whip Cream, is even named after her favorite drink—the one her parents cleverly use to hide her medication. 🤫
Annelise is brave, strong, and full of joy, and she reminds us that a diagnosis does not define the life a child can live.
We are honored to celebrate Annelise as one of our Gallery of the Stars at this year’s Party of the Stars—an evening celebrating incredible women, connection, and impact.

✨ MEET OUR KEYNOTE SPEAKER! ✨
We are thrilled to welcome Kristen Demoruelle, MD, PhD as our keynote speaker for Party of the Stars! 🌟
Dr. Demoruelle is a Staff Rheumatologist at denverarthritisclinic and an Adjoint Associate Professor at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus.
A nationally recognized physician-scientist, Dr. Demoruelle has spent more than a decade leading NIH-funded research focused on understanding the causes of rheumatoid arthritis. She has authored nearly 100 scientific publications and has helped advance our understanding of the role lung inflammation may play in the development of RA.
She is also deeply passionate about women’s health and the ways hormones, reproductive health, and other factors unique to women can influence arthritis and autoimmune disease.
💜 At Party of the Stars, Dr. Demoruelle will share her expertise on women’s health and arthritis, empowering women with knowledge to better understand their health and advocate for themselves.

What a night! Last Friday, we had the best time bringing our JA families and AOII 🐼 community together for a night at Coors Field. It was a great game, even if the Rockies didn’t quite get the win! 😉
And the fireworks show definitely made up for it! 🎆
We’re so grateful for the families, friends, and partners who make moments like these so special. There’s nothing better than bringing our arthritis community together, making memories, and having a little fun along the way!
