She went 25 years without seeing sunlight — and the person responsible for taking away her freedom was her own mother. 💔

Blanche Monnier was once a beautiful young woman from a wealthy French family. She dreamed of falling in love, getting married, and building a life of her own.

But when Blanche fell in love with a man her family believed was beneath their social status, her mother refused to accept the relationship. Instead, Blanche was locked inside a small, dark room in the family home.

For the next 25 years, she lived hidden from the outside world, surviving on scraps of food passed to her while her family told friends and neighbors that she had left for England or Scotland.

When police entered the home, they discovered Blanche severely malnourished, frail, and living in horrific conditions after decades of isolation.

She survived the ordeal, but those stolen years changed the course of her life forever. 💔
