Happy, Happy Birthday to my beautiful Mom (and Nola and Scarlett's Glamma)!

One day is simply not enough to celebrate you and the countless ways you have made our world a brighter place and me a better person!

You still inspire me and all those who learn of your story. You became a nurse as a young single mother and discovered your talents and compassion were destined to take you further. Your grit allowed you to start medical school while I was heading to college, and after years of saving lives in the ER, you are now using your talents to help others through wellness medicine.

You are, quite simply, extraordinary, and you make me so proud!

Here's to another amazing trip around the sun replete with all your favorites, including incredible cruises, continued lucky streaks, and ample opportunities to be mistaken as my sister! (I’m still hoping the genes you shared with me are dominant ones...)

College fair season has begun, and any opportunity to connect with admissions counselors is truly worthwhile! Universities usually have regional counselors, which also means the individual at any Atlanta-area fairs will typically be the person who will read applications from Atlanta-area students!

Here are a few key tips for students to make the most of college fairs:

- Create a list of colleges you plan to see at the fair.

- Prepare a few questions in advance that will show interest in the school - and help you learn information about the college that is not easily found online. Some examples include:
If I were to poll the students about what they’d like to change, what would they say?
What are some of the pressing issues on campus right now?

- Take a backpack or large bag to store the promotional college materials, in addition to the business cards* of the admissions counselors in attendance.

- Send a quick thank-you email (using the email address on the business cards*) to admissions counselors you have good conversations with - and who represent colleges you are interested in. Wearing something memorable can help differentiate you too! For instance: I was the girl in the bright green shirt who asked about how students engage in the local community. I just wanted to thank you for...

- Use any remaining time to visit colleges not on your preliminary list to see if any pique your interest!

- Lastly, don't be intimidated! Most of these counselors are young graduates of the colleges themselves, and they have been hand selected for their affable nature!

What an honor it was to attend Flourish, Agape’s Empowerment Luncheon for Women, again this year and to serve on the 2026 Flourish Host Committee!

The event was not only a beautiful gathering of purpose-driven women; it was also a resounding success, raising over $300,000 to support Agape’s life-changing mission.

It was especially meaningful to have our Director Julianne join us again for this special day and an added bonus to reconnect with many of the mothers of children we've both had the privilege of working with over the years.

I’m so thrilled we were able to support the important work Agape Youth & Family Center does for underserved children and their families!
