Every job you sold last year made money. The company still didn't. 📉
That's not a contradiction. Job pricing and company profit are two different math problems, and most owners only run the first one.
When you bid, you cover job costs, labor, materials and subs, and add a margin. Do that right and every job comes back with gross profit.
But gross profit isn't yours to keep yet. It's what you have left over to run your business: the office, admin, insurance, the trucks in the yard, your own salary.
That runs whether you sold a job that week or not. 🚚
So the real number isn't your margin. It's how much work at that margin it takes to cover overhead before you make a dollar. Most owners have never calculated it. 🧮

Stop telling your team to be more accountable. It isn’t working.
You can’t hold people accountable to expectations they were never clearly given. Vague roles create vague results — that’s a design flaw, not a character flaw.
Pick one role where results keep slipping. Write down what that person owns and what success looks like. Say it out loud together.
