Paul Dandy, General Manager of Arxada’s Canadian business, has more than 45 years of experience in the wood industry - 37 years of those with Arxada. Paul’s day-to-day activities include visiting and supporting customers, attending tradeshows and meetings, and assisting with education, promotion, and technical knowledge about treated wood. “After all these years, I still love what I do because it is never the same,” Paul explains. “One minute, I’m working with a customer planning and strategizing and the next I’m troubleshooting and directly after that I’m working on training and education. It’s always interesting and exciting.”

Paul is active within the industry, serving on the board for Wood Preservation Canada and on technical committees with Canadian Standards Association (CSA). He is an active member of the American Wood Protection Association (AWPA) and is a member of various retail / dealer associations such as LBMAO, ABSDA, and more.

Paul spends his free time enjoying sailing, skiing, hiking, and biking. He also enjoys travelling and spending time with his wife and two adult children. His favorite pastime is watching Formula One races. “I’ve been a fan for over 50 years,” Paul says, “and I’ve been to more than 30 races, some in fairly far away and exotic places like Monaco, Monza, and Melbourne.”

Sarah Clontz, Inside Sales and Commercial Management with Arxada, has more than 19 years of experience with Arxada and loves working with our treater partners. “Customers know I’m just a phone call, text, or email away,” Sarah says. “I love the interaction with our incredible customers, and I love working with our fantastic group of internal folks.” In her role, Sarah manages everything internally from Canada to South America. She helps customers with placing orders, and invoicing / accounting issues. Each year, Sarah coordinates our Plant Operator’s Seminar, including acquiring state approvals so attendees receive necessary Continuing Education Units.

During her free time, Sarah loves to travel, having been to several places in Europe and on several cruises. But the wanderlust doesn’t stop there. Sarah has lived in nine different states during her adult life and most recently settled in South Dakota because “of its beauty and peacefulness.” Sarah really enjoys playing with her new kitten when she is not serving as caregiver to her two older sisters.

Rick Bleskey, Sales and Service Manager for Arxada, is a 41-year wood industry veteran who began his career with little more than hope. “I showed up one day at 5 in the morning at a local treater,” Rick says, “with a resume that had two jobs on it. But after an interview, they hired me on spot. I guess maybe they thought hiring a farm kid who shows up that early is bound to be reliable, right?”

After working within the industry for decades, Rick joined Arxada in 2017. “I was a customer of Arxada and I was familiar with what a good company and reliable partner they are, so the transition made sense,” he explains. Rick visits customers in the upper Midwest and Northeast – including the Dakotas, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Wisconsin, and Maine. He assists with various audits, including safety and environmental as well as handling cylinder and equipment calibrations. Rick helps treater partners with their customers, by explaining treated wood, the treating process, and why proper treatment is important.

Rick is involved in the industry through the American Wood Protection Association (AWPA) – committees: T3, T4, P3 – as well as SPTA and ANSI (American National Standards Institute).
When not working, Rick enjoys hunting, fishing, and time with the grandkids. He has been married to his high school sweetheart for 43 years and together they have two adult sons, one granddaughter, and four grandsons.

On this Labor Day, we would like to say thank you to all of the Arxada colleagues who work and collaborate to bring preservatives, service, and innovation to the wood industry. It is with pride that we wish all of you as well as our partners and friends a wonderful holiday.

Even though Micah Jaynes did not know much about the wood industry more than 24 years ago when he joined Arxada, he couldn’t be happier with the career choice he made. “The first thing I learned about the industry was how important the relationships are,” explains Micah. “Even though there are competitors within the industry, everyone works together to further the use, pressure treated wood.”

Micah, Technical Key Account Service Manager for Arxada, started his career in the lab as a Pilot Plant Technician and then moved to working directly with our treater partners as a Tech Service Representative and Sales and Service Representative. Today, Micah visits customers mostly in Florida and Georgia and communicates with them regularly about orders and preservatives as well as troubleshooting plant issues. “What is great about our team is we collaborate all the time and work well together. We can get questions answered quickly for our treater partners by brainstorming solutions,” Micah says. Micah is responsible for managing and writing Arxada’s Wood Group technical documents such as treating manuals. He also helps customers with technical usage documents and teaches and trains either on site at a plant or during our annual Plant Operator’s Seminar.

When Micah is not with customers, he enjoys fishing, camping, gardening, and hiking. Micah is married with a son (11) and a daughter (8).

Josh Roth has more than 25 years of experience within the wood industry, about seven of which he has spent with Arxada as the Manager of Building Codes and Product Standards. Josh began his career working summer jobs for his dad, who was a general contractor. “The wood industry is in my blood and has been since I was sweeping roofs as a kid on my dad’s jobsites,” Josh says. He has been a state licensed general contractor for 20+ years as well as a private developer, Building Official and a Planning Director.

At Arxada, Josh answers technical questions about our products from architects, engineers, and specifiers; helps customers with technical problems; attends meetings for code development; helps design and develop ESRs for our products; and teaches contractor and architect courses. “I love this job, because I get work with like-minded industry people every day,” Josh says.
Josh is a member of the American Wood Protection Association and serves as a voting member of the ASTM E05 and ASTM D07 committees and participates with task forces for IRC and other code groups.

Josh’s free time is spent with his wife and two sons (20 and 13). He enjoys fishing, camping and playing golf where at different outings he was teamed up with PGA tour members John Daley, VJ Sing, and Jason Gore.

John McMillan says the best part of his job is the people – collaborating with colleagues and meeting with customers. The 50-year veteran of the wood industry joined Arxada in December 2011 and brought with him a world of experience and know how that he shares with his Arxada team and his treater partners.

John is a Technical Sales Representative with Arxada and takes care of customers in the mid-Atlantic Region (including the Carolinas, West Virginia, Virginia, and Maryland). During customer visits and calls, John provides assistance with sales, support, and technical issues and counts on the backing of the rest of the team. “We all have diverse backgrounds, so we work together to solve customer issues,” he explains. “We talk with each other for the benefit of our customers.”

While John loves his career, he also enjoys his free time – peaceful hours doing yard work and riding his motorcycle, a 2007 Harley Springer Classic. He also loves to travel and spend time with family and friends, including his adult son and daughter. Because John spends a lot of hours on the road visiting customers, he often combines travel with one of his favorite past-times – antiquing, stopping by some favorite antique stores along the way.

Recently, several Arxada team members attended the Southern Pressure Treaters Association (SPTA) meeting held in Destin, Florida. Teri Muchow, Arxada's Senior Manager of Regulatory Assurance - Americas, gave an update on update on CCA regulatory issues. Additionally, the more than 120 attendees discussed happenings within the industry and participated in relaxing and team building activities. Speakers talked about economic development, Department of Transportation wood piling inspections, and testing.
