How did ID3 power up LEGO® Pikachu for San Diego Comic-Con?
For San Diego Comic-Con, our team partnered up with the LEGO® team, for their Collector’s Quest activation, beginning with a series of interactive LEGO® Pokémon experiences. Guests uncovered their favorite characters from the IP; Charizard, Squirtle and Bulbasaur through holographic reveals triggered by oversized LEGO® Poké Balls, explored a life-sized Eevee with animated ears, and spotted Pikachu popping out from the bushes beside a custom built Pikachu treehouse!
We engineered the LEGO® Pokemon experience, creating interactive moments designed to surprise fans and reward their curiosity. Teams across many different disciplines worked together to preserve the character familiarities, and imbue them into the LEGO® builds while also ensuring they function at scale. The result was an experience that blended hands-on discovery at the heart of LEGO® Pokemon play.

How do you engage an audience with a fandom like Adult Swim?
Adult Swim once again brought the party to San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) with the return of ‘Adult Swim on the Green.’ And that’s where ID3 and Brumark got to put fan engagement into action.
Fans come to SDCC ready to step inside the worlds they love. To satisfy those curious, aching hearts, our ID3 fabrication team helped build out the Adult Swim experience, including a range-style, pop-up slingshot challenge, inspired by President Curtis. Fans took aim at a series of character targets that rotated, spun and darted in and out of sight. Before they ever started moving, our team fabricated and printed each target to stay true to the show’s distinct IP, then programmed the motion controls to turn the designed forms into a thrilling challenge.
ID3 also engineered a Putt-Putt Challenge to keep audiences engaged during downtime between panels “On the Green,” while Brumark added the sprawl of blue turf from its new Celebration line. Putting on the Green, er Blue, in this instance,he perfect complement to an activation designed for fans playing between the main events.
Adult Swim’s request for diverse, audience-centric fabrication did not stop there. The ID3 team found ourselves building a four-and-a-half-foot fountain shaped as a bust of Marshall from Common Side Effects. The animated comedic thriller’s wonderfully offbeat world came to life at SDCC as fans tested their skills, helping Marshall deal with some rather irksome, mushroom-induced hallucinations perched on his shoulders. A strange challenge? Absolutely. And for Adult Swim fans, that’s exactly the point.
