Claude is one of the 18 new dogs we welcomed last weekend, and at just TWO years old, his mouth is already full of decay.

If you think this looks bad, imagine the smell.

This poor guy is expected to lose most if not all of his teeth. If you’ve ever had a dental for your dog where they needed a few extractions, you know how quickly that bill can add up. Now multiply that by an entire mouth.

Claude will be getting a much-needed dental with extensive extractions, and he’ll also be getting neutered while he’s under anesthesia.

We are looking at a hefty veterinary bill for this little guy, but he deserves to be comfortable and pain-free.

Sylvie is a gorgeous 2-year-old, 50 lb Afghan Hound who has been officially declared “a certified good girl” by our vet, and who are we to argue?

Unlike some Afghans who prefer to admire their people from afar, Sylvie loves attention and will happily come over to request some affection. She enjoys a good sprint around the yard, then comes right back to check in with her favorite person. Walks, toys, playtime, and simply hanging out together are all high on her list of favorite activities.

True to her Afghan nature, Sylvie is smart, curious, and always looking for fun. She can be a little mischievous in her quest for a good time, but her playful personality is sure to keep you laughing. She learns quickly, though, like any independent thinker, she may occasionally decide she has a better idea than the one you had!

Sylvie is crate trained, doing well with house training, and walks nicely on leash. She has lived with other dogs, but would be happiest as an only dog or in a home with only large male dogs. No cats.

If you're looking for a beautiful, clever, affectionate companion with a playful streak and plenty of personality, Sylvie may be your perfect match.

Elyes (pronounced like Elias) is a 1 year old, 17 lb mixed breed dog with a big personality and lots of love to give! He is incredibly friendly, affectionate, and loving. He is also energetic and playful and loves all kinds of toys, especially his Nylabones.

Elyes enjoys going for walks, visiting the small-dog-only dog park with his foster parents, and doing anything that involves a tasty treat as he is very food motivated! He does wonderfully with dogs of all sizes and loves people of all ages, including children.

You may notice that Elyes’ left eye looks a little different. His veterinarian believes this is the result of trauma of unknown origin. He also has dry eye in that eye and receives cyclosporine eye drops to help keep it lubricated. His foster family makes sure he gets his medication as part of his daily routine. He is easy to medicate and doesn't let his difference slow him down one bit.

Elyes is a fun, affectionate boy who is ready to find a family to love and enjoy life with. He would make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a playful pup with plenty of personality!

Promise (right) came to us a little over a year ago with a severely atrophied back leg. After seeing specialists at Veterinary Referral Surgical Practice, we learned she needed both an FHO on her hip and an MPL surgery for her luxating patella. She went through rehabilitation after each surgery, one at a time, before we could finally turn our full attention to her stomach issues.

Getting her gut healthy took special food, different medications, and even FMT (F***l Microbiota Transplantation) pills. It was a long road (and a very expensive one), but we never gave up on her.

Today, we get to celebrate the best part: Promise has found her forever home!

We are so incredibly happy for this sweet girl and her new family. She waited a long time for this moment, and she was worth every bit of it.

If you’ve been following along, you know sweet Sydney had several mammary masses removed. Unfortunately, one of them came back as an intermediate-grade adenocarcinoma, meaning it was cancerous.

Because of this, we sought out a veterinary oncologist and started Sydney on chemotherapy earlier this month. Her second treatment is scheduled for next week. She will have six treatments total.

We are incredibly grateful to the Live Like Roo Foundation for generously covering Sydney’s first chemotherapy session. This organization is filled with such kind-hearted people who help families and organizations whose pets have been diagnosed with cancer and need financial assistance.

Knowing they receive countless requests for help makes it even more special that they chose our sweet Sydney to support. We are so thankful for their generosity and for everyone who continues to cheer Sydney on as she fights this battle.

Patrick is a 6 year old, 17 lb Japanese Chin/Pekingese mix (or so we think) who is an all-around wonderful little guy. He can be a little shy at first, but he warms up quickly and once he does, he loves nothing more than being snuggled by his people.

Patrick has great house manners and gets along well with both dogs and cats. He enjoys spending time in the yard, but he’s also happy to head out for a walk on leash. He rides wonderfully in the car, too! Patrick has been house-trained in his foster home.

Because Patrick can be a little sensitive, older, respectful children would be best. Very young children may frighten him.

Patrick is sweet, easygoing, affectionate, and just an all-around great dog. He’s ready to find the family who will love him as much as he deserves!

Mary-Kate is a 1-2 year old, 9 lb mixed breed Terrier. She and her sister were found as strays by one of our volunteers, likely dumped in the neighborhood. After working hard to catch them, it was a success, and the girls went to animal control to complete their stray hold in case an owner came to claim them. No one came, so the girls entered the rescue.

Mary-Kate is understandably shy at first but comes around quickly. She is extremely sweet and loves attention. She will come over to you and give you kisses. She smiles when she's nervous, and it's extremely cute. She is good with other dogs but has not been around cats. She is crate-trained and doing well with house-training. She is working hard on leash walking but until she’s totally comfortable, she does REQUIRE a fenced in yard.
