To handle gaslighting effectively, your primary goal is to protect your own sense of reality and distance yourself from the manipulation.
Because gaslighters aim to make you doubt yourself, changing your response is much more effective than trying to change their behavior.

Since there isn’t anyone on social media speaking for those who have lost mothers, fathers, children, and who don’t have any family to celebrate during annual holidays centered around familial recognition, I’ll proudly be one of our advocates to speak from a realistic standpoint of loss.
The standpoint of loss and the feeling of family loss always seems to go hidden, as if an enforcement to push this level of awareness and sentiment about loss into the foreground, in the dark. So, I never mind being one who will reveal the darkness and bring the dark to the light and truly acknowledge those who have gone through tremendous loss of losing a parent or both, grandparents, children, siblings, and any and every relative those were close to, when I explain that, when you’ve lost your family, these family days along with other annual celebrations of holidays, become a psychological operation to conquer through.
Of course, the psyop experience isn’t just during these times of annual celebratory holidays that occur a few times a year, it’s daily: 365 days. However, during these holidays and events, the psyops becomes severely amplified.
During the age of media, and specifically, social media and it’s progression with AI among social interactions, the family pictures, the conversations, the colors, the gifts, the honor and with musical praise with songs and lyrics, the joy, the outings, the dinners, the fashion, are all heavy LIFETIME triggers for those unable to share these experiences with family members of whom they’ve lost. Because these celebratory events are such intense triggering moments, oftentimes, you don’t see many of your friends or family members online or offline. They’ve chosen to deal with their feelings of loss and grief alone, away from the public.
Acknowledge them during these times.
They distance themselves because it’s hard for them to speak about the anger, the resentment, the loss, that they feel when seeing others be with their loved ones and they can’t be with theirs any longer in the physical. Being jealous is embarrassing. They start to feel that they shouldn’t feel jealousy when seeing others celebrate their living, but this is part of their grief. They are learning the awareness of grieving, to grieve, and while grieving, they are learning to be happy for others. For many, this takes time to achieve. Keep in mind, they are processing through their suffered loss of their loved ones, and want to be happy and in their new transformative life cycle. The sense of loss in grieving often overpowers their own happiness. Patience, awareness, and understanding, are very important for those who are grieving during these times.
Even if we are finding the time to smile, crack jokes, and gravitate to laughter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and any and every holiday that consists of family gatherings and familial love are very difficult for us.
There is also something very profound that is acquired through our experiences of loss and in grieving, particularly over parents and our children, and that is the wisdom to fully and completely understand the importance of appreciating and cherishing our family when they are living. The void of loss is different when one loses a parent and a child with whom they were close. And with this newfound understanding, many of us have become more hyper vigilantly aware of how many take full advantage of their parents and children being alive through, and by the way they treat them disrespectfully. We observe and listen to many take for granted their parents living when they won’t always be, yet celebrate them outwardly for show while taking complete advantage of their existence in such selfish manners. This too, is hard for many of us to digest and observe after suffering losses of our family members. It becomes difficult seeing a lot of our peers and other family members complain about their parents and children’s behavior, when those of us can clearly see their parents and children love them unconditionally through their words and actions. What those of us wouldn’t give to have our parents and children back while we watch selfish people take full advantage, complaining about their parents who are still alive.
There is not a lot of mental and emotional health awareness being advocated during annual celebrations or during the holiday season at the end of every year. It’s something you’ll hardly find in conversations with society. In many instances, people keep their loss of a parent or other family members, hidden. I just want to be able to now create more common acknowledgments and in discussions, which become safe spaces for those to openly express their loss of a family member(s), and express how difficult celebrations and holidays are for them during these annual circumstances. I just want people to feel heard and seen even during their times of silence and isolation.
It should no longer serve as a discomfort, a taboo, to express or speak on the dead and the grief, by those who grieve during these times. I want to help normalize creating more safe spaces and platforms for those able to not only acknowledge but discuss members of their family that they’ve lost and their grief that they will always manage throughout their lifetime, and without having to feel any guilt in doing so. Many of us tend to feel shame or guilt for possibly overshadowing the joy of others who celebrate their living. Therefore, I want to help bring forth an understanding among everyone that keeping family legacies alive through discussion, and during these celebratory times, helps many of us through the grieving process.
So, I just wanted to take the time to acknowledge everyone and everyone that I can empathetically and clairsentiently feel today, during Mother’s Day, and not just my own feelings of grief and anger over the loss of my mother and the rest of my close-knit family.
You all are felt, seen, and heard through your silent coping and processing during your becoming.
