If an agent sends the same pitch list to casting directors every time, using it for everyone, it stops meaning anything. Casting directors start reading it as “she’s a fan of those clients” instead of “she believes in this actor for this role.” A pitch only carries weight when there’s a real reason behind it.

Candace used to work as a spray tanner, so when Dynasty was casting for a spray tanner, she thought she was a shoe in. But it didn’t end up working out 😩

Losing that booking didn’t mean she wasn’t good enough for the part. It meant casting saw someone who translated better on camera in that moment, and being the real-life version of your character doesn’t guarantee that happens.

Before a casting director or agent reads a single credit, they’re scanning your headshots. If they all look the same, you’re one type. If they’re diverse, different looks, different energy, distinct characters before you’ve said a word, you’re already showing range.

That’s the fastest way to make your profile pop. Every headshot is a chance to plant a thought in the viewer’s mind: this person is talented, this person can play this.

It’s an investment if you don’t already have the shots. But this is the tool that gets you in the room, so invest in it. It’s the single most important thing in your actor materials. Shoutout to Daniel at Next Up Actors for understanding the assignment! 💪
