Men, let us have a real conversation.

Session Two of Becoming The Man Pressure Cannot Break is here.

Topic: Managing Pressure Without Losing Yourself

This is live and unfiltered with Dr. Jeff Moffett, Donald Morton and myself.

We are talking about the things men carry but rarely say out loud.

The stress that follows you home

The pressure to provide when money gets tight

Fatherhood and trying to lead your family well when you feel stretched thin

Those old childhood wounds that still shape how you react today

And the big one, the difference between just being mentally tough and actually being mentally well

Tough will help you push through. Wellness will help you stay whole.

So come as you are. No mask needed. And bring a brother who needs to be in the room with us.

Thursday September 3

7:00 to 8:30 PM ET

Live on Zoom

Let me do some uncomfortable math with you this morning.

Your last meeting probably cost $696.

Perhaps you probably left without a decision.

Here's the real number nobody talks about:

The average American manager doesn't cost $60.83 an hour. That's just their paycheck.

Once you add benefits, payroll taxes, and PTO, that manager costs their employer $87.02 every single hour they're in a chair.

That's not my opinion. That's straight from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. I just put it in our new research report.

Now count the chairs in your last big meeting.

6 people x 1 hour = $522.12

8 people x 1 hour = $696.16

How many times have we all sat there and said: "Let's loop in a few more people before we decide."

We do it because we all agreed on a story that was never proven:

More voices = Better decision.

I'm starting to think that's wrong.

My honest hunch after 20 years in the room:

After about 4 people, adding more voices doesn't make the decision better. It makes it SLOWER and makes everyone LESS sure it was right.

Its is not because the people are wrong.

It is because when everyone owns it, nobody does.

I want to be clear with you: I have not proven this. It's a hunch I'm about to go measure.

I'd rather tell you it's a hunch than dress it up as a fact.

You've lived it. I know you have.

So tell me honestly….

What was the last decision your team made where the room was just TOO FULL?

Drop it in the comments. How many people were in there?

To your clarity,
TM

It was a Tuesday.

Back-to-back meetings since 7 AM.

At dinner, it hit me:

Not one thing I did all day actually required me.

Every decision could have been made by someone closer to the work. Faster. Probably better.

They just didn't know they were allowed to.

That's the part no one warns you about.

You don't become the bottleneck through ego.

You become it through competence.

You answer fast, so people ask.

You solve well, so people wait.

One day you look up and realize your entire organization has organized itself around your calendar.

Your team isn't the problem.

Your decision system is.

That was the day this book stopped being an idea.

For two years I wrote the book I needed on that Tuesday.

Why Is This On My Desk?

How Leaders Stop Being the Bottleneck, Fix Broken Delegation, and Give Every Decision a Single Owner.

This isn't a pep talk.

13 chapters. Each one opens with real federal data. Each one closes with something you can DO that same day.

Roughly 1 in 5 roles has no named owner for its decisions. And that gap has a price tag most leaders don't see until they're paying for it with their evenings.

Pre-order is open TODAY.

And listen….

If you read that first line and felt something tighten in your chest, you're not failing.

You're carrying a system that was never designed.

Share this with the leader you know who's carrying the same weight.

Your strategic plan is not your implementation system.

So many organizations do everything right. The interviews. The retreat. The priorities. The final document.

Then momentum fades.

The vision was not the problem. The operating system was missing.

We never answered who owns this. Who can make a decision without calling another meeting. Who has authority when multiple partners are involved. What do we do when money or capacity shifts. How will we know early if we are off track.

Especially in community wide work where nonprofits, government, business and funders are trying to move together. If you do not have decision clarity you get delay. If you do not have ownership you get frustration.

A real strategic plan should give you five things. Ownership. Decision rights. Measurable milestones. A way to escalate issues. A rhythm for accountability.

It is not about how good the plan looks. It is about whether people know what to do next and are empowered to do it.

Where have you seen this break down. Is it ownership, authority, capacity or follow through?

If you missed National Speakers Association Georgia this weekend, I am still trying to find the words.

The energy in that room was something you had to feel.

A room full of speakers who could be competing, instead choosing to collaborate.

Cheering for each other. Sharing contacts, stages, and hard truths. That is the power of NSA GA. Family.

And our guest Bronkar, wow.

He walked us through his 5 Beats and reminded us that great speaking is not about performing, it is about presence. About leveraging rhythm to truly elevate and connect.

People were laughing, crying, drumming, moving. It was church, concert, and masterclass all in one.

I left with a full heart, a full notebook, and a reminder of why I do this work.

This community has changed my life and my business.

Do not watch from the sidelines on the next one. Trust me, you do not want to keep hearing about it after it happens.

Drop a fire emoji if you were there and felt it too. And if you want info on our next MainStage, comment ME and I will send it.

Pressure doesn't build a man. It REVEALS him.

The hostile meeting. The 11 PM phone call. The diagnosis. The moment your family needs you to be steady...

In that split second, the man who was FORMED takes over the man you DECIDED to be.

Why do strong, disciplined men break character under pressure?

Because the man who shows up under pressure was formed long before the pressure arrived. In childhood rooms. In words spoken over us. In wounds we never named.

Join us for a 90-minute conversation that goes deep:

Becoming the Man Pressure Cannot Break
Session 1: Identity Before Pressure

Inside, we'll unpack:

Where your identity was actually formed
How childhood & trauma quietly run your decisions today.

The gap between who you intend to be and who shows up under heat.

How to build identity in peacetime so pressure doesn't break you.

I'm bringing two powerful brothers to the table with me:

Dr. Jeff Moffett on Healing & Emotional Wholeness

Donald Morton on Character & Personal Leadership

This isn't motivation. This is the work that makes you unbreakable.

For the leaders, husbands, fathers, and men who carry weight for others, this is for you.

We talk a lot about broken processes.

But the real bottleneck is a good employee sitting on their hands waiting for permission to do the right thing.

In airports, hospitals, call centers and government offices I have watched frontline teams face a moment that does not fit the script.

Customer needs an answer.

Risk is rising.

Information is incomplete.

Boss is not available.

So what do they do? They freeze.

If your team has to ask permission to use common sense, you do not have a people problem. You have a clarity problem.

Strong leaders make this clear.

1. Who owns the outcome

2. What the frontline can decide without asking

3. When you must escalate

4. What info to bring when you do

5. How you will be coached not crushed for using judgment

Compliance keeps you safe. Judgment makes you excellent.

Where are you over scripting your team and under developing their judgment?

Confession. I felt anxious right before landing in Austin for the National Speakers Association Influence Conference.

That tight feeling in your chest before you walk into a room you know you are meant to be in. If you have ever felt it, you are not alone. It is completely normal.

Then I arrived and everything shifted.

The warm greetings, the open arms, the real conversations. In an instant, the tension disappeared and community took over.

I went to Austin as a forever student with three clear intentions.

Learn and sharpen my craft.

Build meaningful relationships that last beyond the weekend.

Grow my speaking business so I can better serve my NSA chapter and the leaders I coach.
To say my expectations were exceeded would be an understatement.

Meeting industry giants I had only ever admired from a distance and finding them humble, approachable and generous with their wisdom changed everything for me.

Here is my biggest takeaway.

Your impact will never outgrow the people you are willing to learn from.

As leaders, speakers and entrepreneurs, we cannot expect others to grow if we have stopped growing ourselves. Growth does not happen in isolation. It happens in conversation. It happens through mentorship. It happens when you surround yourself with people who challenge your thinking and sharpen your message.

I left Austin with fresh ideas, new relationships and a renewed commitment to my mission, to help organizations and leaders discover that resilience is not about recovering who you used to be, it is about reconstructing who you are becoming.

Huge thank you to everyone who poured wisdom, encouragement and friendship into me this weekend. You prove that we all rise higher when we lift each other up.

Now it is time to put everything I learned to work.

Two stories in the news this week stopped me in my tracks, because they prove the same point.

Yesterday, an NHS Trust was placed under an unprecedented corporate manslaughter investigation. The investigation uncovered a painful pattern. Patients with serious histories were released, risk was not escalated, and critical information was not shared between agencies. Families called it what it was, a systemic failure of governance where transparency and accountability broke down.

And then the Gates Foundation. After a review found leadership had ignored warnings, they announced a full governance overhaul, including a new centralized vetting process for any facilitators connected to senior leadership.

Their CEO said it plainly: The work we do depends on integrity and earning and maintaining trust.

One organization is being investigated for unclear ownership. One is rebuilding to make ownership crystal clear.

That is the real work of leadership.

In complex organizations, decisions do not slow down because people need more data. They slow down because authority is unclear and accountability is fragmented.

If you lead across functions, cultures, and locations, ask your team this week:

Who owns this? Really.

What must we know before acting versus what would be nice to know?

Does this decision actually need to stay at the top, or should it live closer to the work?

The goal is not to make every decision yourself.

It is to build a team that is trusted and equipped to make good decisions without you in the room.
