During your first biology course every student learns about ‘the codon’ that is the key to unlocking the information encoded by DNA. Discovery of this basic biological concept, called the ‘genetic code’, is often one that intrigues students and initially peaks their interest in biology. in San Diego was a walk down research career memory lane for me. Ran into former colleagues and students from academia. As well as a couple of luminaries in the field of cancer immunotherapy from my NCI post-doc and early days in biopharma. Fun 🤩 bonus was having a co-worker send over a picture 📷 of me with the SITC vice president in a pamphlet they were handing out at the meeting.

Great ESMO2025 in Berlin. Translational/biomarker poster presented ✅. Simultaneous Nature Medicine manuscript ✅. I feel like I interact w/ more co-workers at conferences than on-site in office! Had a delicious dinner with my oncology translational development colleagues at Kurpfalz-Weinstuben (It definitely earned its Michelin stars ✨). Took a stroll through the gardens at Charlottenburg Palace after some meetings/sessions. Of course I had to stop by the Adidas flagship store too 👟.

Wonderful & energizing time participating in the women’s leadership institute SITC event in Chicago last week. This was my first time joining as faculty to contribute to 2 panel discussions on: Surviving office politics & How to say no 🛑. Engaged with so many trailblazing scientists over the 2 days (and learned a lot myself from the other faculty speakers!)

What a night for my BFF who pulled of a fabulous fundraiser for a great cause —> 📚. She rubbed elbows with Oprah & I rubbed elbows with Neil deGrasse Tyson 🔭 🤩 (who could not have been kinder sticking around for autographs and meeting people). So fun hanging out w/ friends and family for a festive night!
