✨ OPENING NIGHT OF NU AFRICANS ✨
What an incredible night at Hammonds House Museum!
The opening of NU AFRICANS, featuring the work of Maurice Evans and Grace Kisa, was a huge success. Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate the artists, the work, and the community that continues to make Hammonds House Museum such a special place.
NU AFRICANS centers women—presented in striking silver and gold as goddesses, warriors, mothers, queens, and superhuman beings. Through photography, costume, painting, and visual storytelling, the exhibition celebrates strength, beauty, ancestry, identity, and the many ways Black women carry and embody power.
The exhibition brings together new work alongside earlier works that many audiences never had the opportunity to experience after the artists’ previous exhibition was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, these works have a new opportunity to be seen, experienced, and celebrated.
If you missed opening night, the exhibition is just getting started.
✨ NU AFRICANS is now on view through December 13.
Come by this weekend and experience the exhibition for yourself.
🎟️ Tickets are available through the link in our bio and on our website.
We’ll see you at the House!
