Caring For Others

As we head into a new season, we’ve been thinking about the people who make this work possible.

Every box packed. Every pair of new shoes placed on a child’s feet. Behind each moment is someone who decided to care.

You volunteered your time. You gave what you could. You donated goods. You shared our mission with someone else. And together, those individual acts of kindness became something much bigger.

To everyone who continues to stand alongside Caring For Others this fall: thank you. We’re grateful to serve with you.

So this year… Christmas in September is moving to October. 🎄😂

We thought about calling it “Christmas in October,” but at this point, we’re keeping the name and ignoring the calendar like that one auntie who starts playing Christmas music before Halloween.

Here’s what matters: the JOY isn’t going anywhere. ❤️

❤️ Same mission to give families a hand up when they need it most.

It’s all still coming — just a little later and, hopefully, a whole lot less soggy. Christmas in September may be showing up in October…but trust us, it’ll be worth the wait. 🎄✨

There is so much dignity in stepping out in a fresh, quality pair of shoes. When our kids feel good about how they step out into the world, their confidence skyrockets. Whether they’re walking into a new classroom or stepping onto the playground. We don’t give away anything we wouldn't want for our own children, because love always gives its best.

As we look toward the fall and winter months, we’re getting ready to do it all over again with warm coats, winter shoes, and holiday support. Hurricane season in the South hits hard, and severe summer storms can turn a family’s life upside down in the blink of an eye.

When disaster strikes, we don’t wait around. We clear out the warehouse and send trucks loaded with fresh water, food, and personal care items straight to the hardest-hit neighborhoods. We live by the rule of giving what we’d want to receive. That means we only give brand-new, quality items because there is true dignity in how you lift a neighbor up during their darkest hours.

Please keep any family navigating storm recovery in your prayers this hurricane season. We are staying right beside them to provide a true hand up.

Back in 2001, Caring For Others started with just $25, a tiny rented space, and a big calling from above. Today, God has allowed us to serve thousands of families across metro Atlanta, Georgia and around the globe—all because people like YOU decided to join hands with us! 🙏🌾

As we enter this beautiful late-summer and fall season, our workload is growing. Between expanding our school food pantries, preparing for Christmas in September, and gearing up for our fall and winter distributions, we need our village now more than ever.

A huge thank you to the team at Focus Atlanta on CBS Atlanta for welcoming our COO, Jesse Webb, for an important conversation about the real struggles facing our working families.

As Jesse shared on air, inflation and rising costs are hitting every single part of daily life. From the grocery aisle to basic car repairs, our neighbors are out here working hard, putting in their 40 hours a week, and still wondering how they’re going to cover all the bases.
