The recognizable plates remain in 2026 (though fewer). Chasing coffee and a donut, the ubiquitous 96 Rock listener and local television consumer greets me with a familiar, “Hell yeah! Yeah C’mon.”

We are taping this morning a new season of Georgia Legends for Georgia Public Broadcasting led by the former CNN producer ace Tristan Smith.

The Passing of a Midtown Legend: Remembering Beloved Mary Mac's Employee Flo Patrick 10/03/2026

A Ponce power passed this week, here is my Georgia Public Broadcasting column.

The Passing of a Midtown Legend: Remembering Beloved Mary Mac's Employee Flo Patrick A beloved face at one of Atlanta’s most iconic restaurants has died. Flo Patrick, who spent 39 years serving generations of customers at Mary Mac’s Tea Room, passed away this week at 88. My organizing today of a closed storage room has yielded a fancy bourbon bottle and photos I barely remember. I’m a few months out of college here. The passage of time is humbling. The Denver skyline 46 years ago was different.

12 years ago, I received a bourbon gift. After sharing with friends, it disappeared, never to be seen again, until today. Discovered unexpectedly this afternoon in the bottom of a plastic container, deep in a storage room. I feel like Robert Ballard in 1985 finding the “The Titanic.” https://youtu.be/EV8LsrPAsj0?si=1WiP9ZmcZc20Sbpy

The AJC’s Mark Bradley missing the press box? Not a chance, goodbye is goodbye. 09/18/2026

Former Atlanta Journal Constitution columnist Mark Bradley always carved his own journalistic path, so it comes as no surprise, Mr. Bradley’s retirement journey is also unique. Star big city newspaper columnists never retire, they die on the job or grow too old to ride the stadium elevator to the press box ——-not Mark Bradley. Almost two years ago, Mark took his laptop and walked away from the sporting life. Here is my GPBlog.

The AJC’s Mark Bradley missing the press box? Not a chance, goodbye is goodbye. In an occupation where no one ever really retires, Mark Bradley did. And like the legendary actress Greta Garbo, there have been no public sightings.

I’ve had 8 facebook followers reach out to me about Walter Banks death this afternoon, Walter is still with us and could use some help. Here is his Gofundme account. https://www.gofundme.com/f/honoring-walter-banks-atlantas-beloved-usher?attribution_id=sl:8fd3672c-0350-4408-8a82-6e263511bc84&lang=en_US&ts=1789510904&utm_campaign=fp_sharesheet&utm_content=amp30treatment-8&utm_medium=customer&utm_source=twitter

Among the unforgettable images of 9/11, Mike Lukovich of the Atlanta Journal Constitution drew “Liberty Mourns.” The AJC published the work the next day, it resonated deeply, the newspaper printing posters with money raised going to victims families. I recently spoke to Mike about his day 25 years ago for our GPB program Georgia Legends. Here is a portion of the interview. https://www.gpb.org/blogs/hullingers-musings/2026/09/10/drawing-through-grief-the-atlanta-cartoonist-who-captured-the. (Courtesy AJC)
