Led by President and CEO Terri M. Lee, The Housing Authority of the City of Atlanta, Georgia (AH), is the largest housing authority in Georgia and one of the largest in the nation. AH provides and facilitates affordable housing resources for nearly 27,000 low-income households comprised of approximately 45,000 people, including AH-owned residential communities, tenant-based vouchers, supportive housing, and homeownership opportunities. Programs are funded and regulated by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
When we asked President and CEO of what home means to the people they serve, her answer centered on people.

A group project that brought 448 affordable housing units to Southwest Atlanta. The Villas and Flats at Stone Hogan will be a place where residents will have access to amenities and programs that support healthy living, learning, and community engagement through partnerships with Star-C and other community organizations.

Atlanta Housing joined residents, partners and community leaders to celebrate the ribbon-cutting of The Villas and The Flats at Stone Hogan, two new communities bringing a total of 448 affordable housing units to Southwest Atlanta.
For us, this celebration was about what access to affordable housing can make possible.
Councilman Wayne Martin shared his own powerful full-circle story, from growing up in a family that participated in the Housing Choice Voucher Program to now serving the very district where we gathered. His journey was a reminder that affordable housing can be a pathway to stability, opportunity, and self-sufficiency.
That same promise was reflected in the YouthBuild students who joined us for the celebration. We were especially proud to recognize our own intern, Jacquez, who applied to YouthBuild, was accepted into the program and is now taking advantage of the training and opportunities it provides.
His story is another example of how Atlanta Housing’s work extends beyond housing, connecting residents with resources and opportunities that can help them build stronger futures.
Housing is more than a place to live. It can be the foundation for what comes next. Welcome home, Stone Hogan.

Progress continues at Columbia MLK Senior, where we’re preserving 121 senior apartment homes while making meaningful improvements throughout the community.
It’s just southeast of Downtown Atlanta, in the Capitol Gateway/Summerhill area, not far from I-20 and the Downtown Connector.
From refreshed interior spaces and upgraded flooring to new windows, entrance improvements, landscaping, sidewalks and elevator upgrades, the transformation is taking shape inside and out. The project is near completion.
Most importantly, this preservation effort helps ensure that affordable housing remains available for Atlanta’s seniors.

Legacy at Herdon’s ribbon-cutting ceremony was a celebration of Atlanta history, progress and a legacy that continues to shape our city.
Alonzo Herndon’s story is deeply rooted in Atlanta. An entrepreneur, visionary and trailblazer, his impact helped shape this city, and now his name continues to live on through Legacy at Herndon Square.
Built on the site of the former Herndon Homes, this new mixed-income community brings 200 new homes to Atlanta’s Westside, including 170 affordable units and 30 market-rate homes.
As Atlanta continues to grow, so does our commitment to creating more affordable housing opportunities and moving closer to the city’s housing goals.
The skyline may change. The neighborhoods may evolve. But some legacies deserve to remain part of the story.
