We’ve explored Israel. Connected with Jewish life in Cuba. Reflected on history in Poland.

Next stop: Mexico City!

Join fellow young leaders February 21-25, 2027, for a journey filled with culture, community, and connection. Together, we’ll explore iconic sites, build relationships with Mexico City’s vibrant Jewish community, and learn about the global impact of Federation.

In the stretch between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, we’re thinking about who we want to be and the kind of community we want to build.

This week, YLD was all in. From joining the Federation’s Allocations & Grantmaking Committee Kickoff and dreaming up what’s next, to another inspiring session of the Jacobson Leadership Institute, we spent the week learning, connecting, and investing in the future of JewishATL.

A highlight was hearing from Debbie Kuniansky and Renee Kutner about leadership, partnership, the challenges facing our community, and the vision that keeps them moving forward.

As we do the work of reflection and renewal, we’re reminded that the future isn’t something that’s waiting for us. It’s something we’re building together.

Reminiscing on our Young Leadership Division Journey to Poland🤍🇵🇱

We came to Poland to bear witness to the past. We left with a deeper understanding of resilience, responsibility, and the enduring power of Jewish life. Throughout our journey, we honored those who were lost, remembered communities that were destroyed, and witnessed vibrant Jewish communities being built today.

Again and again, we moved between places of remembrance and moments of profound Jewish joy, reminding us that remembrance is not only about preserving memory, but about ensuring a future worth building.

We remember. We build. We sing. We dance. We live.

Our first full day in Warsaw on the YLD Journey to Poland.

Today we walked through history.

From the streets of the former Warsaw Ghetto to the Jewish Cemetery, every stop was a reminder of lives lived, communities destroyed, and the resilience that continues to endure.

At JCC Warsaw, we learned about the incredible work of JDC in Poland and how they are strengthening and supporting Jewish life today. We also rolled up our sleeves for a pierogi-making workshop—a joyful reminder that Jewish life here is not only remembered, but thriving.

In the afternoon, we visited the Rappaport Memorial, Umschlagplatz, and Mila 18, honoring those who resisted in the face of unimaginable circumstances.

We ended the day over dinner with the Head of the Jewish Agency for Israel in Poland and inspiring beneficiaries from Minsk, Belarus, and Ukraine. Hearing how their lives have been touched through our Atlanta community’s partnerships with these communities made the connection deeply personal and was a powerful reminder that the impact of our work extends far beyond Atlanta.

A day of remembrance, learning, connection, and hope. 🤍

We’re building the next cohort of leaders shaping Jewish Atlanta.

The Jacobson Leadership Institute is designed for emerging and established leaders (ages 26–40) who are already engaged in community life—and ready to go further.

If you value philanthropy, show up for your community, and are looking to deepen your leadership and impact, this experience is for you. Join a cohort of passionate peers committed to learning, growth, and collective impact—and take the next step in your leadership journey.

Last night, participants in our YLD Journey to Poland gathered at the Breman Museum for our pre trip meetup. Together, we explored the history of antisemitism leading up to the Holocaust and reflected on exhibits highlighting Poland during the war.

We were honored to hear from George Rishfeld, whose story of surviving the Holocaust as a young boy, saved by righteous gentiles, spoke deeply to the power of courage and resilience.

His story set a meaningful tone as we prepare for this important journey. We look forward to sharing more from Poland, June 29 to July 5.
