Ivy Wu - "Material Poesy" on view September 24 - October 29 - Opening Reception September 25, 6-9 PM

Ivy Wu is a contemporary artist whose paintings arise from a dialogue between Eastern tradition and Western abstraction. Wu's immigration to the United States from Shanghai informs her practice as she navigates between distant and intertwined identities.

Wu shows work nationally and internationally, including at The Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia - MOCA GA, Marietta Cobb Museum of Art, Hollis Taggart, Shanghai Painting and Sculpture Art Institute Museum, and more, and her paintings are held in numerous private, corporate, and public collections in North America, Asia, and Europe.

Wu serves as an assistant professor of art at Kennesaw State University and holds an MFA from SCAD - The University for Creative Careers.

Ato Ribeiro is a multidisciplinary artist working in a variety of media including sculptural installation, drawing, and printmaking.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, Ribeiro spent the formative years of his life in Accra, Ghana, before relocating to Atlanta, GA, where he has recently been a member of the Studio Artist Program at Atlanta Contemporary.

Ribeiro was a 2024 Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation Biennial Grant awardee and a 2022 Atlanta Artadia awardee. He served as a 2024 artist in residence at Fountainhead Arts and has received fellowships at The Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia - MOCA GA, Vermont Studio Center, and Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture.

His work is in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian American Art Museum and the Renwick Gallery, Phoenix Art Museum, Detroit Institute of Arts, Cranbrook Art Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia (MOCA GA), and the Mercedes-Benz USA Headquarters, among others.

Ribeiro holds a BA from Morehouse College and an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art.

Johanna Flores - "Material Poesy" on view September 24 - October 29 - Opening Reception September 25, 6-9 PM

Johanna Flores is a contemporary ceramic sculptor. Her abstract, voluptuous sculptures explore themes of creation, spirituality, and human transformation. Born in Los Angeles, CA, she is a first-generation artist of Mexican descent.

Flores’ work has been exhibited at notable institutions, including the American Museum of Ceramic Art / AMOCA, The Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia - MOCA GA, Abernathy Arts Center, Swan Coach House Gallery, Decatur Arts Alliance, and more. She holds a BFA from Parsons School of Design in Product Design and Ceramics and is a 2025 recipient of a creative residency with The Hambidge Center for Creative Arts & Sciences.

Dayna Thacker's "Ikebana-ish" series, on view in "Ancestry of Belonging." Inspired by Japanese ikebana, Thacker creates and photographs sculptures made from blooms, foliage, and natural elements.

Colleen Maria Casey's work in "Ancestry of Belonging" explores materials, legacies, and traditional sewing methods. Her practice utilizes traditional net-making, felting, stitching, printing, gathering, folding, and iron printing.

Casey's focus on textiles for this exhibition stems from a lifelong reliance on sewing: "I have been sewing since childhood. Although I hold degrees in ceramics and photography, textiles remained the one accessible passion I could maintain through the whirlwind of motherhood and raising small children. It allows anyone to pick up yarn or cloth and continue making things during the busiest times of life."
