We've had such a blast at Decatur WatchFest, and it's hard to believe the final week is already here. Today it's France vs Spain, and tomorrow it's Argentina and England, as the tournament builds toward the moment it's all been leading up to. This is what happens when a small town welcomes the whole world, and there's still plenty of Square left to fill between now and the final whistle on July 19, when Indigo Girls close out the show. We'll see you on the square!

Every community has great stories. Even better, it has great voices.

Our Decatur Voices series shines a light on the people helping shape the character, culture and future of our community through their own experiences and perspectives.

Architect Alan Phillip Clark shares why the best homes aren't designed around trends—they're designed around the way people live. From preserving neighborhood character to creating timeless spaces that bring families together, his column is a thoughtful reminder that great architecture starts with listening.

This is just the first of many local voices you'll be hearing from.

Stay tuned—there's much more to come.
