ECO-Action
ECO-Action helps Georgia communities organize to positively impact their community's health, environm Get to know us more at www.eco-act.org.
At ECO-Action, we help people empower themselves to make a difference and affirm their right to clean air, land and water. We do this by helping members of the community to:
• Research and communicate issues
• Motivate their neighbors to take action
• Build alliances
• Understand the processes and options
• Create an effective strategy
Our mission has been to help communities organize to confront environmental health threats, and to strengthen and facilitate participation of communities in preventing and resolving such threats. ECO-Action serves the general population, but we focus our assistance on vulnerable communities – most often rural residents, people with limited formal education, those with few resources, women, and people of color. ECO-Action’s work is based on the intersection of three things: threats to human health, environmental degradation and social injustice. Since 1989, we have assisted in organizing more than 140 community groups. We envision a toxics-free Georgia where people’s health is not affected by environmental threats.
