The placement of a home is critical on your land. We often get called with sq ft pricing to gauge a new construction home. Without knowing the lot grade or the knowledge of how to obtain it these are critical overall cost factors.

The desired elevation and finished grade should be important conversations between the client and builder.

Sometimes even a slight shift in a home location could be easily upwards 10k to 20k++ in cost factors to the client and having a builder understand that and communicate those key factors can save on the overall project cost.

I personally layout and shoot wall heights on every house as the owner and builder of my company. Discuss potentials with the clients and already have the layout locations for the mechanicals such as back up generator, propane tank,meter base and water line entry into the house.

Retaining walls and lengths are already laid out and figured in with known daylight areas in the basement and I know closely where we can roll dirt off the project to back fill the garage and other areas.

These details along with a site visit with the homeowner takes place all before clearing and grading occurs on the lot.
