PURPOSE AT GEORGIA TECH:

Cultural Appreciation and Identity

LASA will strive to inform the community on the current condition and essence of the Latin American presence on and off Georgia Tech’s campus bringing light to the history and accomplishments of our people. We will put forth our best effort to dispel the misperceived conceptions and negative stereotypes that are associated with the Latin American culture. Retention

Georgia Tech being such a rigorous institution demands for a strong personal foundation in which students should have a strong sense of identity. By providing an environment in which students can explore and nourish their cultural background LASA will serve as such a foundation. The connection to their roots will function as a motivating force driving students to go above and beyond the standards set for those pupils. Networking

LASA will create connections with the outside community (inside and outside of Georgia Tech) that will aid in carrying out its purpose and help with the develop of our students. Unification

LASA will strive to unite the Latin American/spanish speaking student body and those who surround them so that students are a part of a group in which they can develop a sense of home away from home and lasting relationships.
