During Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, Fulton County is proud to recognize Emory University’s Winship Cancer Institute for its commitment to prostate cancer prevention, early detection and treatment.

At Fulton County’s recent Men’s Health Tailgate hosted by Commissioner Ellis, Winship’s mobile prostate cancer screening bus provided 109 PSA blood tests, helping make screening more accessible to men in our community.

The Fulton County Board of Commissioners has proclaimed September 16, 2026, as Winship Cancer Institute Appreciation Day.

September 22–25, 2026, marks the 120th anniversary of the 1906 Atlanta Race Massacre, a four-day period of racial terror in which white mobs attacked Atlanta’s Black communities, destroyed homes and businesses, and killed Black residents.

The Fulton County Board of Commissioners has proclaimed September 22–25 as 1906 Atlanta Race Massacre Remembrance Days to honor the victims and recognize those continuing to preserve their memory.

🦠 Healthy communities don’t happen by accident. Behind the scenes, epidemiologists are tracking diseases, investigating outbreaks and helping prevent the spread of illness across Fulton County.

In recognition of that important work, the Fulton County Board of Commissioners has proclaimed September 2026 as National Field Epidemiology Month in Fulton County.

Through the Fulton County Board of Health’s Office of Epidemiology, public health professionals monitor health conditions, investigate disease reports and outbreaks, provide guidance to residents and healthcare providers, and coordinate with other agencies when emerging health threats arise.

Their work helps identify potential threats early, respond quickly and give our communities the information they need to stay healthy.

This month, we recognize the epidemiologists working every day to help make Fulton County safer and healthier for everyone.
