HBCUs Outside

We’re so proud of our AUC ambassadors! Last month, our alongside , , and they hosted a Black History Month Hike at Stone Mountain and a Social Justice Brunch Panel at .

The turnout was amazing. For many students, it was their first time hiking Stone Mountain and learning about its complex history. They left with a deeper understanding of the ongoing advocacy to remove the park’s Confederate messaging, led by activist groups like the Stone Mountain Action Coalition and the Sierra Club’s Outdoors for All campaign.

✨ NEW FEATURE ✨Sierra Club x HBCUs Outside are training the next generation of Black outdoor leaders 🌱

We’re excited to spotlight our partnership with , where 19 incredible student leaders from Spelman College, Morehouse College, Morehouse School of Medicine, Clark Atlanta University, Howard University, and North Carolina A&T completed the Sierra Club Chapter Outings Leader Training 🙌🏾

These leaders built skills in ethical leadership, risk management, outing planning, First Aid/CPR certification, and community-led conservation. Preparing them to lead with confidence, care, and purpose in the outdoors.

This is what it looks like when community leads the way. ✊🏾🌿
