ATL Ride Along Tours & E-Bike Rentals

This abandoned railroad turned greenway is the 2nd longest in the paved bike trail in the country and it has a must see hidden gem railroad tunnel. The Silver Comet Trail runs from just outside of Atlanta in Smyrna, GA, all the way to the border of Alabama. From there, it runs an additional 33 miles to Anniston, Alabama under the name Chief Ladiga Trail. It’s a 94 mile long trail! There’s plenty of awesome things to see, but at mile marker 30.9, you’ll find the coolest one. A massive, old train tunnel that looks like something from an old western movie, because it is. It was built in 1912 and used for trains to pass under Brushy Mountain up until 1988. Lucky for us, we can now visit and explore it while testing out the absolutely insane acoustics. It’s even more impressive in person and it’s hard to capture the scale of it on camera. Brushy Mountain Tunnel is 800’ long and 3 stories high! It has an eerie, haunted vibe as well with that movie-like setting. As soon as we arrived, a light fog set it. This whole excursion took us 2 hours and we only passed 5 other people on the trail. Another cool note- when you park at Coots Lake Trailhead, you’ll start the trail in Polk County, and cross into Paulding County, GA, with signs to mark it. Also, in the summer months, check out Coots Lake Beach.
