It’s already been two weeks, and somehow, all of this still feels like a blur. It’s crazy that when someone you love so much passes away, the world keeps going on. It hurts me to think that we all have to continue living our lives without you here.

The only thing keeping me going is the light you left behind, all of the beautiful memories of you that I will cherish forever. I miss every single thing about you. I even miss the things that used to annoy me.

Every time I close my eyes and pray, I can still feel you. I could have never expected this to happen in a million years, and yet, it did.

Lauren, I love you with my whole heart. I pray that the world continues to tell the story of your beautiful soul and the joy you spread while you were here.

To my little sister Lauren.

I hope you know that I have loved you all the days of your life. There wasn’t a thing on this earth I wouldn’t have done for you. I would have torn down mountains to make sure you were happy and safe. And I would give anything to have one more day with you.

I can’t even fathom that you aren’t here anymore. That Saturday night will forever be the longest night of my life. Sitting, waiting to see if you’d make it. But sadly, you didn’t. And my heart is beyond broken. I can’t even comprehend this moment of you not being here.

The only way that I can find any peace in this is knowing that you are in a better place. I know you are in Heaven right now with the Lord, sending us signs through yellow butterflies. And hearing “Forever Young” on the radio while we were waiting to see if you’d make it.

Lauren, a lot of people haven’t had the blessing of meeting you, so let me say this. Lauren was the life of the party. That girl couldn’t stop having fun and spreading joy. All she knew how to do was make people smile and feel good about themselves. She cared about her family more than anything and wouldn’t let anyone ever mess with us.

Lauren you are beautiful inside and out. I’ll never be whole without you here. My family will never be whole without your beautiful light. I know you are with us in spirit, and you will live on through all of us and the joy you spread to others.

I love you, my little sister. May you rest in peace, and may your name live on forever.

Praise God for the friends who encouraged me to become a missionary. I’ve never felt such a kind hearted community. I’ve never experienced God’s love so deeply or felt more at home than I did this summer.

I never knew life could feel like this. God is good and so is life when you’ve got him close
