October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. 💜

Strong families and thriving communities begin with safety. This month, Together Georgia joins organizations and advocates across the country in raising awareness about domestic violence, supporting survivors, and recognizing the professionals and community partners working every day to help families find safety and stability.

Domestic violence doesn’t affect just one person. Its impact can extend throughout a family, shaping the safety, stability, and well-being of children and caregivers. For those working in child welfare, behavioral health, family services, and other helping professions, understanding the signs of abuse and knowing how to connect families with appropriate resources is an important part of building stronger systems of support.

Domestic Violence Awareness Month is also a reminder that awareness can lead to action. We can educate ourselves about the signs of abuse, learn how to respond when someone reaches out for help, support local domestic violence organizations, share trusted resources, and continue creating communities where survivors are heard and supported.

For Georgia-specific education and resources, the GA Coalition Against DV works to empower survivors and the programs serving them while educating communities about domestic violence.

If you or someone you know needs support, the National Domestic Violence Hotline provides free, confidential help 24/7. Call 800-799-SAFE (7233), text START to 88788, or use online chat.

This month and throughout the year, let’s keep working together to build safer, stronger communities for Georgia’s children and families.

Remembering September 11

Today marks the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, a day that forever changed our nation. We pause to remember the lives lost, honor the courage of first responders and everyday citizens, and recognize the families and communities who continue to carry the impact of that day.

Twenty-five years later, we are reminded of the strength found in compassion, service, and coming together in times of need. Today, Together Georgia joins communities across our state and nation in remembering and honoring all those affected by September 11.
