Unpopular opinion...... Your PR firm's weekly meetings aren't overhead. They're the strategy. I just finished working with a client who refused them. First time in my career that's happened. We spent three months with them. They thought it was an efficiency move. No weekly meeting means no pulse check... no pulse check means we're executing on a brief that's two weeks out of date. The media landscape moved. Their message didn't. We still got them on a US News & World Report "BEST OF" list last week. But I can't help but think about the other slam dunks we would have had had, if they collaborated. Weekly meetings aren't about status updates!!! They're where the real-time pivots happen - the ones that make the difference between a placement and a pass. The best PR results I've EVER gotten came from clients who treated those calls like they mattered. Because they do.

Before I ran a PR agency, I was a journalist.

CBS News. NBC LA. Fox.

And in a single week on any of those desks, I received between 200 and 400 press pitches.

I opened maybe 20.

I responded to fewer than 3.

I covered 1. Sometimes 0.

That math is the reason most founders trying to get press coverage never do.
It's not that your story isn't good.

It's that you're pitching it the way an agency template said to pitch it, and journalists learned to filter out those pitches years ago.

Here's what I wish every founder knew before hitting "send":
→ Journalists don't want your announcement. They want a story that will get read (or watched).
→ Personalization beats polish. Every time.
→ Timing is a weapon!! The BEST pitch, at the WRONG moment, dies.
→ Being findable before you pitch matters more than the pitch itself.

I broke down the full playbook: pitch structure, the 5 mistakes 90% of founders make, and what to do before you ever hit send, in a new piece on the Disrupt PR blog.

We asked ChatGPT two questions last night. 🤖

The first one keeps founders awake at 11pm.
The second one is the answer most haven't heard yet.
👀 Screenshot in the post.

Your customers aren't just Googling you anymore.
They're asking ChatGPT. Perplexity. Gemini. Claude.

And AI answers based on what other people have said about you online, not what you've said about yourself.

❌ No news coverage = no AI visibility.
✨ PR isn't legacy marketing anymore. It's the infrastructure of being findable in the AI era.

If you're a founder wondering why your competitors keep getting mentioned in AI answers and you don't, let's talk.

Big win for Family Credit Management! 🚀 Michael McAuliffe is in CNBC. It's not just about the logo; this placement is gold for AEO/GEO. AI models like ChatGPT scan for authority, and this tells them you're the expert. You become the "answer"! Visibility that converts!

Disrupt PR CEO Marin Richardson is now a contributor to PR News!

In a recent piece, Marin shared her perspective on a standout moment from Macy’s and what it reveals about effective financial PR strategy.

Rather than avoiding uncertainty, Macy’s leadership addressed it directly, naming external pressures while reinforcing performance. Marin refers to this approach as “owning the weather” - a strategy that builds credibility by framing risk before others can define it.

It’s a strong reminder that PR is not just about visibility! It’s about narrative control, investor confidence, and long-term positioning.

At Disrupt PR, we help growth-stage companies do exactly that.

BIG huge news to share! Disrupt PR just took home the GOLD for Best Boutique Agency at the 2025 Bulldog PR Awards!

This win hits a little different because of how the winners are chosen. The PR Bulldog Awards are judged exclusively by working journalists. These are the professionals who see thousands of pitches and stories every day, so having them recognize our work as the best in the business is a massive honor!

At Disrupt PR, we’re obsessed with building credibility and cultural relevance for our clients. Whether we’re securing a high-impact placement or shaping a founder’s narrative, our goal is always to drive real awareness and trust. Being named the top boutique agency validates the heart and hustle our team puts into every single campaign.

A huge thank you to the judges and, most importantly, to our incredible clients who trust us with their stories every day. We’re just getting started!

The "growth at all costs" era in Austin is officially shifting!

We’re seeing a massive move away from vanity metrics toward something much more powerful: sustainable storytelling. In the current market, brand authority is the new currency for high-growth startups and established players alike.

It’s no longer just about the next round or the quickest exit. It’s about building a narrative that lasts and securing the kind of placement that actually moves the needle. Our team spends a lot of time behind the scenes (like in this strategy session) mapping out how to turn cold data into a compelling brand story.

Founders are realizing that visibility without credibility is a losing game. We’re here to make sure your brand isn't just seen, but heard and trusted by the audiences that matter most!

Are you focusing on growth or authority this year? Let's talk about it.

AI-generated content is THE content, making the digital landscape noisier than ever. When anyone can generate a thousand words in seconds, how do you prove your authority?

In 2026, earned media is the ultimate proof of work.

It is no longer enough to just speak about your brand. You need trusted third-party validation to cut through the static. A placement in a top-tier outlet isn't just a win for visibility: it is a signal to your industry that your voice, your ideas, and your business actually matter.

Here is why earned media is your strongest asset right now:

• It builds immediate credibility that paid ads simply cannot buy.
• It positions you as a leader in a sea of automated noise.
• It provides the social proof necessary to close high-level deals and attract top talent.

At Disrupt PR, we specialize in securing the kind of placements that build long-term brand authority! We don't just tell your story: we make sure the world hears it from the voices they already trust.

Is your brand ready to move past the noise and secure its authority? Let’s talk about your narrative strategy.

Bad Bunny hit the stage and Preply hit the numbers!

One week into our partnership, we decided to newsjack the Bad Bunny halftime show to show exactly what Disrupt PR can do. The results? Pure momentum!

Our client, Preply, saw a massive 178% increase in people wanting to learn Spanish on their platform. It turns out, everyone saw that performance and decided they want to rolllll their r's!

Beyond the surge in interest, we secured a 5-minute placement on FOX KTVU 2 San Francisco to break down the cultural trend and keep the conversation going. This is the power of being fast, being relevant, and being disruptive.

This is what happens when strategic storytelling meets cultural relevance. We don't just wait for the news: we jump right into the center of it!

- 178% growth in Spanish interest
- 5-minute prime placement on FOX KTVU Fox 2 - San Francisco
