An epic digital re-master of the classic WMS with all the right tools for modern brands to crush the

09/25/2026

Peak season is not only "extra fees start in late September." The quiet killer for Shopify self-fulfill brands is which economy service you pick for light residential packages.

In 2026 peak windows, FedEx Ground Economy and UPS Ground Saver sit in the same job - cheap residential ecommerce - but the per-package demand surcharge spreads are nowhere near the same. That gap shows up order after order while your pack station still looks busy and "fine."

USPS is the structural outlier again: it raises the published price on Priority Mail, Ground Advantage, Express, and Parcel Select from Oct 4 into mid-January, instead of adding a separate surcharge line you can spot on the invoice.

If you self-fulfill, model the mix before the truck leaves: carrier, service, weight, zone, and anything near additional handling. Rates belong on the pack screen, not in a spreadsheet you update after peak is over.

Sources: carrier peak notices and the 2026 peak surcharge roundups (UPS / FedEx / USPS).

Your scanner's trailing Enter just tried to create the purchase order for you.

Cute. Also expensive.

Barcode guns love appending Enter. The field you meant to fill becomes a submit. Suddenly you are staring at a draft order, a receive confirm, or a transfer you did not mean to fire — mid-aisle, mid-conversation, mid-chaos.

SKUSavvy now blocks a barcode scan that ends in Enter from submitting the form you happen to have open. Scan to fill the field. You still hit the real confirm.

The product catches the accidental submit. You still own the intentional one.

par levels that sit at "whatever felt right last quarter" are how you find empty bins mid-pick.

Suggested Par Levels uses lead time + sales/day to draft a range. you Accept per SKU. nothing buys itself.

1. open the par / replenishment view for the warehouse that is thin
2. check CURRENT vs SUGGESTED
3. Accept the ones that match the floor, edit the ones that don't

product gathers. you decide what "enough" means.

Half of "inventory is wrong" is not a bin-map problem. It is a scanner that has been lying quietly for weeks.

Missing prefix. Keyboard-language garble. A stray Enter or modifier the gun appends on every read. The floor blames Shopify, then the WMS, then the new hire. The scanner keeps looking fine.

Scanner Self-Diagnosis (Sep 15 changelog) puts test barcodes for common formats on screen. Scan one of each and watch a checkmark land when the read is clean. When a scan comes through wrong, the keystroke view names the likely cause and hands you the setting code that fixes it.

Test the gun before you rebuild the warehouse in a spreadsheet.

The product surfaces the bad read. You still decide what to reconfigure and when to retrain.

your hottest aisle is doing overtime. the dead corner is collecting dust and opinions.

heatmap on the 3D layout shows which bins actually move so slotting stops being a gut call.

move the movers closer to the pick start. leave the slow stuff where it won't tax every walk.

SKUSavvy maps the floor. you still decide what moves where.

Shopify now leans on the fulfillment location you pick at checkout for US tax origin.

that only stays clean if the location's On Hand is real. typed numbers and mystery bins make the "which warehouse ships this" guess expensive.

SKUSavvy is the floor half: bins, put-away, pick, two-way sync so the location you fulfill from matches what you actually have.

product gathers. you still pick the ship-from.

Typed pick quantities are how warehouses invent stock that never left the shelf.

You know the scene. A picker is mid-aisle with a scanner in one hand and the order in the other. The line says quantity 4. They glance, type 4, and move on. Maybe they scanned once. Maybe they counted from memory. Maybe the last unit is still in the bin and the carton is already sealed.

Scan-Every-Unit Picking shipped in the Sep 8 changelog for that exact miss. Each scan of the item ticks the count up. The pick only commits when you hit the full quantity. Every scan target on screen shows whether it is the one the next beep will hit, so nobody is guessing which field just accepted the scan.

The product gathers the count from the scanner. You still decide the batch, the path, and when the wave starts.

If your floor still treats typed quantity as truth, this is the quiet accuracy leak.

your picker shouldn't need a scavenger hunt to learn where A12-03 went.

3D layout shows zones, aisles, and bin-level inventory before anyone walks. office, virtual lanes, outside. the map is the floor, not a spreadsheet souvenir.

SKUSavvy gathers the layout. you still decide what lives where.

your Shopify On hand is a typed number and a prayer.

someone updated a cell. someone else picked from a bin that moved. the storefront still smiles like nothing happened.

SKUSavvy keeps bin-level stock on a 3D map with two-way Shopify sync. product gathers what the floor actually holds. you still decide what to fix.

receiving without a bin plan is how shirts land in the shoe aisle and stay there until someone complains.

Putaway Criteria ranks bins from product types, tags, and SKU patterns so check-in gets a shortlist instead of a blank map.

1. turn on Enable Check In Criteria in settings
2. open Layout → Putaway Criteria (or bin criteria)
3. name a rule, add types / tags / SKU patterns, attach the bins
4. next receive: pick from the ranked suggestions, not vibes

product gathers the match. you still confirm the bin.
