Some songs take a piece of you to finish. Six months ago, we started writing a track that pushed me further artistically than almost anything I’ve made before.
Underdogs is dedicated to the grind that happens when no one is watching. Everyone finds themselves on the back foot at some point, but history shows you can never count out the underdog. This song is for anyone who’s had the odds stacked against them, and kept going anyway.

A singer DM’d me last week with the same question I used to ask myself every day: “How do I actually get started?”

She has an incredible voice. She has so much passion. She was also waiting for a magic way to get started that doesn’t exist.
So I told her to stop holding onto her art like it’s a secret.

We treat “putting ourselves out there” like it’s a final exam that we’re getting ready for, but creativity isn’t a talent you’re born with. It is a way of operating. It’s a series of “What happens if I do this?” moments. More than that, you never know who you are going you reach and what impact you could have if you don’t take the first step.

It is terrifying to post your first work. It’s scary to show the world your “experiments” before they’re “perfect.” But if you never start the journey, you’re guaranteed to never arrive and no one ever feels like their work is truly done.

As Martin Luther king jr said “Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.”

Don’t wait for the perfect track or the perfect moment. It doesn’t exist Just start dammit. It’s scary to be seen trying, but it’s worse to be invisible.
