an excerpt from ’s program notes: 
 
“….This piece is built around a hymn-like chorale melody - heard in its entirety only near the end of the work - derived directly from the Artemis crew’s emotional tribute to Reid Wiseman’s late wife: “We lost a loved one, her name was Carroll. The spouse of Reid, the mother of Katie and Ellie...it’s a bright spot on the Moon, and we would like to call it Carroll.” 
 
Hushed are the Winds is a tribute to Reid, Victor, Christina, Jeremy, and everyone else who continues to inspire when we need it most. 
 
This piece takes its name from the poem On The Death Of A Young Lady by George Gordon Byron.”
