Quick question. If you did not open your laptop tomorrow, what would break?

Not in a dramatic way. In the ordinary way.

Who would answer the client email? Who would know where the password is? Who would remember that the invoice goes out on the 15th and the supplier only picks up the phone before noon?

I will be honest with you. For a long time the answer in my business was me, me, me, and also me.

Every question walked into my office, sat down, and waited for me to handle it.

I called that being hands-on.

My family called it something else.

Here is the truth. A business that only works when you are standing in the middle of it is not a business yet. It is a job with better stationery.

That is not a knock on anybody. Most of us built it that way because we were the only one there at the start. It made sense on day one.

It stops making sense the first time you try to take a Sunday off and end up answering texts from the pasture.

God did not give you this work so it could own you. He gave it to you so you could build something that serves people and still lets you go home.
