““Never Gonna Give Up” is 18 months old today.

I wrote this song at one of the lowest points of my life.

I had just been rejected from my dream job — not because I wasn’t qualified, but because they couldn’t give the position to “an immigrant.”

How do I know that?

The General Manager later asked to meet with me and told me that was what HR had said. Make of that what you will. I don’t judge.

The very next day, I found myself on a construction site, welding for the first time in my life. I learned on the job.

Right there, the same day, during my lunch break, the chorus and the guitar loop came to me. I recorded them as a voice note on my phone.

Later that night, I played it for my guitar teacher, and that’s how “Never Gonna Give Up” was born.

As we say in French: « À quelque chose malheur est bon. »

Because of that rejection, I now have a song that many people tell me has helped them stay positive and keep going.

Life is funny like that.

Keep doing you. Keep showing up. Life has a way of meeting you where you least expect it.
