Happy Juneteenth! Celebrate by joining us for a free Make & Take where you can make an origami 12-point star in the colors of the Juneteenth flag! Join Core Volunteer Kelly in our Community Space (next to the Office Section) from 12-3PM to learn origami and celebrate Juneteenth!
Did you know?
The Juneteenth flag is half blue and half red, with a large white star in the center. It was designed by the National Juneteenth Observance Foundation and utilizes the colors of the American flag: red, white, and blue. These colors and the inclusion of the 5-point star are used to commemorate that the African Americans that were enslaved in Texas after the Emancipation Proclamation were American citizens, and the Juneteenth holiday began in Texas as a result. The larger starburst surrounding the central star represents the spread and celebration of freedom that Juneteenth represents.
This is a FREE drop-in event, so you can stop by anytime between 12-3PM to participate.

We’re launching ACR’s first Reuse Artist in Residency Program! This is a program we’ve been dreaming about for many years, and now with the support of an Elevate Grant from Austin Arts, Music, Culture & Entertainment (ACME), we're excited to pilot this program with our community, starting later this summer.
We’re looking for reuse artists who are interested in sharing their work with our community. We're open all mediums, so long as reuse plays a strong role in your past work and the work you propose to complete during your residency. We welcome applications from local reuse artists of all kinds, including emerging artists. No prior residency experience is required.
Applications are due Sunday, July 12 at 11:59PM and the residency will run from August 15-December 15, 2026.

We’re excited to shine a spotlight on one of our newest team members - Jamie McGuinness! As our new Education Coordinator, Jamie will run our Educator programs, including the Materials Mobile and annual pay-what-you-can Educator Extravaganza. She brings her fantastic experience as a former park ranger, wilderness educator, and event coordinator to the role and we’re so excited to have her knowledge and positive attitude on the team! Outside of work, she’s an avid crafter and enjoys Austin’s nature and music scenes with her chihuahua-blue heeler mix, Kara Zor-el.

Huge thanks to for volunteering with us last month! This amazing group of 68 volunteers processed over 20 total bins of craft wood, stickers, writing instruments, fine art markers, and batting and stuffing over the course of the day! They were a really fun, enthusiastic, and efficient group and we appreciate their hard work!
