Our students are working hard during these first months of the school year, and we’re excited to see them growing as readers!

Through our Reading Support Program, students receive extra practice, guidance, and encouragement as they develop their reading skills and build confidence.

Every new sound, word, and page is a step forward! We’re proud to support our students as they learn, grow, and discover the joy of reading.

Last month, before classes began, we held our annual Open House, a special opportunity for families to connect with our community before the start of the school year.

Parents had the opportunity to meet their children’s teachers, get to know other members of our staff, and become more familiar with the team that will be walking alongside their children throughout the year. We also captured our students’ annual school photos, creating memories that will become part of this special chapter in their lives.

We are grateful for the opportunity to welcome our families and begin another school year together, building strong relationships and creating a nurturing environment where every child can grow and thrive.

Our staff recently gathered for a special time of fellowship. We began by reading God’s Word and worshiping Him together, taking time to reflect on the purpose and calling that unite us as a team.

During that time, we also had the opportunity to welcome a new staff member. We are grateful to have them join our team and look forward to all that God will accomplish through their life and service.

We are grateful for the people God has brought together to be part of the Makarios mission!

Over 550 women gathered in Pader, Uganda, for a powerful time of learning, encouragement, and fellowship at our recent Women’s Conference!

Grounded in Proverbs 14:1, the conference explored how the atmosphere of a home is intentionally cultivated. A wise and confident woman understands that her words, attitudes, and actions can help foster peace and unity—or, at times, create friction and bitterness.

We’re grateful for the wisdom, strength, and dignity God gives women to build thriving homes and communities.

Staff Highlight: God’s provision was evident through the incredible teamwork behind the conference! When Geoff fell ill, Dan stepped in to handle translation. Batha served as “Ms. Connections,” making sure every woman felt welcomed, while Molly worked behind the scenes to help everything run smoothly.

Thank you for your prayers and continued support as God brings spiritual restoration to vulnerable communities through the love of Jesus Christ.

At Makarios, we’re grateful for every church, school, and ministry that serves alongside us in the Dominican Republic. Hearing the Gospel is just the beginning. Through ongoing relationships, we walk alongside families and communities toward lasting spiritual restoration.

Our short-term teams now step directly into relational ministry through home visits, school support, English conversation practice, community prayer walks, and family events.

To every team who served with us this summer: thank you! Your prayers, presence, and relationships make a lasting impact.

As you look through these photos, ask God how He might be calling you to get involved in 2027. You can pray, join a team, or even lead a team!

During the second half of their trip, Antioch Community Church helped with a campus beautification project, installed a new roof on the Ranchito and installed a new roof on the Makarios School Office. Thank you, Antioch College Station!

We are deeply grateful for our friends at Grace Point Paradise, who have been returning year after year to walk alongside Makarios. Every time this team steps foot on campus, they arrive with humble, eager hearts ready to jump right in wherever there’s a need.

During their time with us, they:
Strengthened local connections by partnering with a nearby church for door-to-door home visits, empowered our students through engaging English conversation practice, and prepped our campus to ensure our classrooms and grounds are ready to welcome students for the upcoming school year.

Grace Point, thank you for your unwavering support, your selfless service, and your commitment to this ministry. We are blessed by your partnership!
