Texas has always supported her Veterans in return for their military service. In 1946, Texas created the Veterans Land Board (VLB) to administer benefits exclusively for Texas veterans. Commissioner Dawn Buckingham, M.D., is thrilled to share the success of the Collin County Veterans Expo this past weekend!

More than 300 Veterans attended this six-hour outreach event in Allen, hosted by the VLB, Texas Veterans Commission, and Credit Union of Texas.

These Veterans received helpful resources and support and connected with the VLB to learn all about how to access our fantastic benefits and services.

On this day in 1775, the U.S. Army Chaplain Corps was established to provide spiritual, moral, and emotional support to our soldiers and their families.

Today, we're proud to celebrate their 251st anniversary and honor these religious leaders for their guidance and support.

Join the VLB for an Unaccompanied Veteran Burial at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene.

U.S. Army Veteran Steven Louis McCarley will be laid to rest on Thursday, August 6th, at 11:00 a.m.

Please help us spread the word, and if you have the opportunity, please come out and attend.

We will always ensure that no Veteran is buried alone.

U.S. Army and World War II Veteran Wiley Tow is asking for 100 cards for his 100th birthday celebration!

Commissioner Dawn Buckingham, M.D., encourages the Amarillo community and Texans statewide to participate in our 100 for 100 program by sending a birthday card to Mr. Tow, who will be turning 100 on Friday, August 14th.

The public is also invited to attend Mr. Tow's birthday celebration at the Ussery-Roan TSVH at 2 p.m on that day.

VLB Chairwoman Dawn Buckingham, M.D., is proud to introduce the next installment of the series highlighting the VLB's Voices of Veterans Oral History Program.

This week, we highlight the service of Corporal Wayne Terwilliger who served in U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.

After seeing extensive combat in Saipan, Tinian, and Iwo Jima, Mr. Terwilliger decided to return to college and pursue a career in professional baseball.

Earlier this month, VLB Outreach Rep. Travis gave a VLB benefits presentation to a group of Veterans in San Antonio.

He also taught a TREC Continuing Education course for the wonderful Texas REALTORS who joined us.

To celebrate 80 years of the Veterans Health Administration, VA North Texas Health Care System welcomed VLB Outreach Representative Mallory Morris to help plan its June celebration, which also aligned with the Freedom 250 event honoring America’s 250th birthday.

Together, we provided more than 1,100 Veterans access to over 25 VA services and nearly 50 community and government resources.

We’re excited to continue supporting events that honor our Veterans!
