Good Looks

All hail Jake Ames! Happy Birthday to the man! I’ve had this guy riding shotgun with me for a little over a decade. Best friend falls short, brother is closer. He impresses me, he pi**es me off, he baffles me, he amazes me with his overwhelming childlike wonder and goodness. He must’ve made a deal with the devil because he shreds too hard. Unreasonably hard. Cheater of death. Destroyer of ramen. Smoke em if you got em. Wish this man the best day!

We’re overjoyed to announce that over the weekend, our bass player Harrison married his sweetheart Hanna at one of our favorite places in Austin, Hole In The Wall.

Hanna has traveled with the band to the UK, done a lot of pro b***r design work for us, and become a huge part of the Good Looks world. She’s also, of course, a huge part of our main man Harry’s world.

Much love to Harry and Hanna. May they have a million good years together, and may we all continue down the road of life and rock n roll together, living out all our wildest dreams and fantasies.

P.S. Shout out to Jim Campo , one of the best goddamn rock n roll bands in all the land, for playing the wedding.

One Gemini and three Cancers, so we’re really in birthday row right now at Good Looks world. Yesterday was my turn.

I don’t know if I have anything too eloquent to say about 39 yet, other than 38 was a really good year.

Mostly it was slow, with only the last bit of the European tour falling inside it. I started having a songwriting night at my house. Vaughn and I bought a house in Lockhart. I spent a lot of time here with her in our small town.

Glad to still be on this earth. Glad to be living and writing and getting to see all my lovely friends.

Yesterday was nice. I love y’all!

Happy birthday to a real one, and the only guy I’d want to have as a drummer.

I’ve been out at the Kerrville Folk Festival for a little over two weeks now.

I feel like I’ve heard a thousand songs, swum a few times, eaten one million breakfast tacos, consumed 500,000 oz of iced coffee, not had a sip of alcohol, made a handful of new friends, and heard a lot of great stories.

One week left. Excited to come home and get back to work. Excited to write new songs.

I’ve been thinking about that Joni Mitchell thing where she talks about being a bee, going out into the world gathering pollen, and then making honey from it. Some people don’t really like the way her honey tastes, but she can’t control that. She’s just a bee.

I feel like I’ve got a lot of pollen to make some honey out of.
