We've officially marked a major milestone in the Paramount’s restoration as the construction team removed the theatre's front doors (or, as they call it, the "storefront").

When the Paramount first opened, it actually featured an open exterior lobby. For a brief moment during construction, we're getting a rare glimpse of what the theatre looked like in its earliest days!

When the doors return, they'll be reconfigured and relocated to better align with the interior lobby doors, and a new accessible ramp will be added along the north side of the lobby. These improvements are a key part of making the Paramount more accessible for ALL guests while preserving the historic character of the building.

We're officially halfway to our fundraising goal. Every gift helps move this historic restoration forward. Follow the link to explore the latest construction updates, learn more about the project, and find out how you can support the Shine On campaign: https://bit.ly/48G0h51

BOTTLE ROCKET celebrates its 30th anniversary on the big screen this Saturday, August 15th as part of our “Debuts” theme in the Summer Classic Film Series!

Wes Anderson’s feature debut introduced audiences to his unmistakable style, and to Owen and Luke Wilson, playing aspiring criminals who quickly discover they may not know the first thing about actually committing a crime.

Hard to believe now, but BOTTLE ROCKET bombed at the box office, and Owen Wilson was so discouraged by its reception that he seriously considered joining the Marines, convinced acting might not be in his future. Shoutout to Wes and Owen for sticking with it 😉

If you miss our screening of WHO’S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF? this Saturday, August 15th, consider yourself a FLOP 🍸

Celebrating its 60th anniversary, Mike Nichols’ blistering adaptation of Edward Albee’s stage play screens as part of our “All the World’s a Stage” theme, spotlighting playwrights who brought stage adaptations and new stories to the silver screen.

Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton (married in real life at the time!) turn marital warfare into an art form, delivering two of the most explosive performances ever put on screen. And the Academy noticed: the film was nominated in every Oscar category for which it was eligible.

THE MISFITS screens at the State Theatre this Thursday, August 13th as part of our Summer Classic Film Series, celebrating the film’s 65th anniversary 🤠🐎

Directed by John Huston and written by Arthur Miller, the film stars Clark Gable as an aging cowboy opposite Marilyn Monroe as a recently divorced woman searching for a new beginning. Though it struggled at the box office upon its release, THE MISFITS has since been reevaluated as a classic, featuring what would become the final completed film performances of both Gable and Monroe.

According to Miller, after seeing a rough cut near the end of filming, Gable told him, “This is the best picture I have made, and it's the only time I've been able to act.”

Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and watch FERRIS BUELLER’S DAY OFF on the big screen once in a while, you could miss it! 😎 Take the night off this Friday, August 14th with a 40th anniversary screening of FERRIS BUELLER’S DAY OFF at the State Theatre as part of our Summer Classic Film Series!

The film’s iconic parade scene took over the streets of downtown Chicago with choreography by Kenny Ortega and a crowd that eventually grew to around 10,000 people. But some of the scene’s best moments weren’t planned at all. Several people caught dancing along (including a construction worker and window washer) were simply reacting to the music. Director John Hughes loved it so much, he told the camera operators to keep rolling.
