Online ordering available! Dai Due was created to reconsider what “our” food is and will be. We do not use any vegetables from afar.

By using ingredients that are present in our region, we are able to serve foods that are fresher, buy food that is produced in a fair and equitable way, pay homage to the local culinary traditions, and support farmers and ranchers who are striving to improve the quality of our food. The Food served at Dai Due reflects the season, tradition and whim of our region. Dinners are themed around a general idea, but the specifics are often not determined until the last minute – as our ingredients vary due to weather, crop failure, a bumper crop, or an auspicious discovery at the farmers market. The menu is fixed, and is typically served family style, with 4 to 10 courses. We Use:

- Organic or Sustainably Raised Ingredients from Texas Farms.
- Vegetables and herbs grown in season, from farms as close as possible to Central Texas. The majority of the vegetables we use are grown in and around Travis County, and we supplement this with fruits from around Texas, such as apples from North Texas or citrus from the Rio Grande Valley. Ever.
- Meats from local ranchers. Our hogs, beef, lamb and goat are pastured, grass-fed and hormone- and antibiotic-free. We use only wild-harvested wild game – never farmed. Poultry comes from local sources that truly allow their birds open space, not “free-range” warehouses.
- Seafood from the Gulf, with a focus on “bycatch”, or overlooked and underutilized fish caught by fisherman seeking more well known and marketable fish.
- Local cheeses, dairy and eggs from producers around Central Texas, including raw-milk cheeses.
- Texas olive oil, butter and freshly rendered lard (or other animal fats) for cooking.
- Local cornmeal and wheat flour.
- Local honey
- Organic staple items like flour, vinegar, cane sugar, molasses, and maple syrup.
- Texas-made wines and spirits for cooking.
- Oak lump charcoal, as well as locally grown pecan, oak, fig, peach and apple woods for grilling and smoking.
- Organic rice from the Gulf coast.
- Quality breads from local bakeries. We do not use:
- Imported or conventionally grown vegetables and herbs.
- Factory farmed meats or meat from corn-fed ruminants.
- Imported seafood.
- Teflon or non-stick pans.

12/20 Anniversary #1. For the rest of October, we will be celebrating the 12th (brick and mortar on Manor Road) and 20th (first Supper Club dinner in 2006!) anniversaries with a retrospective of our favorite dishes. First up, the classic roast chicken. A Westfold bird, weighing in a little under 3 pounds, brined and roasted to order. Served with what we consider its highest and best accompaniments: pommes puree, chicken Demi-glacé and just-back-in-season green beans. For years, we bought gorgeous chickens from Jane and Terry at Dewberry Hills Farm, selling them brined and ready-to-cook at the farmers’ market and later, when we had a roof and an oven, roasted and with this exact set. Look out this month for more of our favorites from the last TWO DECADES of business, which may or may not include crab cakes, fish soup and blood sausage. Hell, we might even take requests.

From now til the end of summer (and by end of summer we mean the arbitrary date of September 1, not the actual cessation of heat in December) enjoy our very good burger with a side tallow-fried French fries for $19 from 5-6pm, Tuesday through Thursday and Sunday. Or maybe we just say Burger Happy Hour every day we’re open except for Friday and Saturday. Anyways, burger and fries for $19, and also $5 rotating local draft beers.
The burger is grassfed South Texas longhorn, beefy as hell, with a sprightly house-baked bun, a titillating and precocious sauce, shredded lettuce, pickled jalapeños and some onions that were cut nicely with a sharp knife. Recap: 5-6pm, burger & fries $19, $5 draft beers made by nice people, Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
