Austin Vocations
“For I know well the plans I have in mind for you.” - Jeremiah 29:11 🕊️ Welcome to the Austin Vocations Facebook fan page.
This resource was developed to help respond to this stirring plea from the Heart of Christ. In its pages you’ll find information about priesthood and consecrated life in the Diocese of Austin, tools for prayer and discernment, and pages that introduce you to our seminarians in priestly formation. This is a great time to be a priest or consecrated sister or brother! The Diocese of Austin is building a culture of vocations. Every vocation is discovered through the encounter with Jesus Christ. Our goal is that of Pope Benedict XVI when he said, “It is essential that every local Church become more sensitive and attentive to the pastoral care of vocations, helping children and young people in particular at every level of family, parish and associations – as Jesus did with his disciples – to grow into a genuine and affectionate friendship with the Lord, cultivated through personal and liturgical prayer; to grow in familiarity with the sacred Scriptures and thus to listen attentively and fruitfully to the word of God; to understand that entering into God’s will does not crush or destroy a person, but instead leads to the discovery of the deepest truth about ourselves; and finally to be generous and fraternal in relationships with others, since it is only in being open to the love of God that we discover true joy and the fulfillment of our aspirations.” – Pope Benedict XVI, Message for the 48th World Day of Prayer for Vocations

Our priests have a unique proximity to Christ, and for Josh, that nearness is one of his greatest hopes as a seminarian.
To learn to love with His heart. To see the world as He sees it. To draw nearer to Him through the sacraments in a way uniquely entrusted to the priest.
For Josh, the priesthood is ultimately a desire to be close to Christ, and, from that closeness, to bring others closer to Him.
If you feel a tug towards this desire, the Office of Vocations is here for you. Email [email protected] for more.
It’s not too late! We’re accepting Called By Name submissions through October 3rd. That’s exactly ONE WEEK from today! 7 days of prayer, petition, and participation in God’s perfect plans. Submit a name at austinvocations.com/called. 🙏🏻📣📮
