Our history dates back to 1967, when Texas was preparing for the 1968 Hemis Fair in San Antonio and more than 16 million tourists were expected to descend upon the state. A variety of representatives from diverse entities, including the State Department of Highways and Public Transportation, decided that Texas cities and highways should be given a “facelift” so visitors would see a clean, beautifu

Take a KTB Mission Moment 🌎
At today’s staff meeting, we started with a mission moment: how do we each help live the mission of keeping Texas beautiful in our everyday lives?
The answers were simple, practical, and powerful:
Thrift gifts before buying new.
Grow vegetables at home.
Bring a bag for stray bottles.
Carry a reusable cup.
Repair devices before replacing them.
Pick up litter when you see it.
Living the mission doesn’t always mean doing something big. Sometimes, it’s the small choices we make every day that add up to a cleaner, greener, more beautiful Texas.

BIG cheers for Keep Texas Beautiful Young Texan Ambassador Kaitlyn Tran, who was honored with a KVUE 5 Who Care Award on June 11! 🎉
Kaitlyn is the founder and leader of Rain Barrels for Runoff, a youth-led environmental art project that brought together 10+ Central Texas youth artists to upcycle and hand-paint 20 rain barrels, helping reduce stormwater runoff pollution while raising $2,500+ for local nonprofits.
And because Kaitlyn does not stop at one kind of impact, she is also a water quality monitor for the Lower Colorado River Authority and recently won first place in Earth and Environmental Sciences at the Greater Austin Regional Science and Engineering Fair. 🌎💧
Her project proves what happens when creativity, science, and community care come together: cleaner water, less waste, and more young Texans seeing themselves as changemakers.

Keep Texas Beautiful is now hiring two paid internship positions for this summer: Programs Intern and Marketing & Communications Intern.
These hybrid opportunities are perfect for students (or recently graduated!) who care about community impact, storytelling, conservation, youth engagement, litter prevention, beautification, waste reduction, and making Texas shine. Interns will gain hands-on nonprofit experience, support statewide programs and digital outreach, and help engage Texans in taking action for a cleaner, greener state.
Both roles are paid at $15/hour and include flexible summer scheduling. Ready to build your skills while supporting communities across Texas?

During today’s Affiliate Showcase & Recognition Session, we recognized the communities, leaders, and local programs driving real change across Texas every single day.
Because when it comes down to it, our affiliates are the ones on the ground doing the hard work — solving problems, organizing volunteers, building partnerships, launching new ideas, troubleshooting challenges, and showing up for their communities again and again. 🌎♻️
