We were excited to welcome students from the Ramshorn Scholars Program at the Cockrell School of Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin to Formaspace.
Our goal was to create an experience that went beyond the classroom and showed the students one of the many ways engineering is applied in the real world.
They learned how an initial customer need becomes a physical product through design, documentation, manufacturing, and continuous improvement. Then they headed to the factory floor to see it for themselves.
Working in teams, the students observed how people, materials, and information move through production. They identified opportunities for improvement, mapped what they saw, and presented their recommendations to our team.
With students representing eight different engineering majors, we loved seeing the different perspectives they brought to the same challenge. Their curiosity, thoughtful questions, and fresh ideas made the experience just as valuable for our team.
Thank you to the students and Ramshorn Scholars Program advisors for spending the afternoon with us. We hope the visit offered a useful look at where an engineering education can lead and how engineering decisions shape the products and processes we interact with every day.
