Healing isn't linear.

For many survivors, progress looks like moments of courage, setbacks, renewed hope, and reaching out again when the time is right.

That's why Skylar's story matters. It represents what so many survivors experience on their journey toward healing.

At Red Oak Hope, our commitment doesn't end when communication slows or circumstances change. We continue showing up, leaving the door open, and walking alongside survivors whenever they're ready.

As we close out this week recognizing World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, we still need YOUR help to continue providing community-based support for survivors like Skylar.

Thanks to a generous donor, every gift made this week will be doubled up to $50,000.

Yesterday, Skylar* learned that what she had experienced was exploitation. Today, we had the privilege of meeting with her.

After weeks of phone calls and text messages, Skylar was ready to meet with our team for the first time. More than anything, we wanted her to know she had choices.

At Red Oak Hope, we walk alongside survivors as they decide what healing looks like for them. Whether that's connecting to benefits, finding community, working toward sobriety, or simply having someone who shows up consistently, every journey is different.

This week, we're honoring World Day Against Trafficking in Persons by sharing Skylar's story to highlight the life-changing impact of community-based services and the power of long-term, trauma-informed support.πŸ’™

Thanks to a generous donor, every gift made this week will be matched dollar for dollar up to $50,000, helping ensure more survivors have someone to call when they're ready.

Follow along with Skylar's journey, read today's email, and make your doubled gift through the link in our bio. 🀍

When a multi-agency human trafficking operation takes place, survivors aren't just met by law enforcement. They're also met by advocates who offer compassion, practical support, and the reminder that they don't have to face what's next alone.

Long before our team walks into a room to meet a potential survivor, months of preparation, collaboration, and coordination have already taken place so that when the opportunity to respond comes, we're ready.

From packing dignity bags and care baskets to partnering with law enforcement and community organizations, every detail is intentional.

Our goal is simple: to meet every individual with dignity, practical resources, and hope.

In last month's newsletter, we shared what it takes to prepare for these collaborative operations, why trusted partnerships matter, and how those first conversations can become the beginning of a survivor's journey toward healing and restoration.

One of the most impactful moments from She Rises was hearing directly from the professionals working every day to support survivors of human trafficking and exploitation.

Thank you to our incredible panelists, Sarah Hall, Emily West, and Anne Boon, for sharing their expertise, insight, and hope with our community, and to Jennifer Sanders for thoughtfully moderating the conversation. Together, they explored the realities survivors face in Central Texas, the gaps that still exist in recovery services, and what it truly means to provide survivor-centered care.

From addressing the hidden impacts of trauma and disability to empowering survivors through voice, choice, and specialized support, the conversation served as a powerful reminder that healing is possible when the right resources, relationships, and systems are in place.

The need is great, but so is the opportunity for each of us to be part of the solution.

Whether you're just beginning to learn about this issue or have been engaged for years, each of us has a role to play in helping ensure survivors have access to the care, support, and resources they deserve. πŸ’›

Sometimes a spark of hope can begin with a simple question.

"Is there anything you need right now?"

Last month, our team had the privilege of responding alongside law enforcement during a multi-agency human trafficking operation, meeting potential victims with compassion, dignity, and practical support.

For many survivors, this may be the first time someone has sat beside them without judgment or expectation, simply reminding them that they are worthy of care.

In this month's newsletter, we're taking you behind the scenes of what these operations look like, how our team prepares in advance, and why showing up with compassion and curiosity matters so deeply.
