Tiny House Update!🏠

Last month, the incredible team from Cornerstone Restoration rolled up their sleeves and donated their time to lift our tiny house so we could finally get running water to the bathroom inside! They spent hours working in the heat and mud, jacking up the entire structure and taking apart deck pieces, all to make sure the water was flowing right.

BIG thank you to Cornerstone Restoration for your hard work, generosity, and for helping us get this project one step closer to completion! 🙌

This spring, we introduced you to Rose, our Restore Intern and a senior at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary preparing for ordination. She came to us wrestling with real questions:

What does healing actually look like for survivors of exploitation and trafficking, and can the Church truly be a place of safety rather than harm? 🧡

Over six months, Rose immersed herself in the science of the nervous system, sat with survivors' stories, and even created her own "Restore style" prayer and reflection experiences for our staff. Through this work, survivors reconnect with themselves, often for the first time in decades, and reclaim the choice, curiosity, and agency trauma once took from them.

Before her internship ended, Rose shared a powerful reflection with our Board on why she believes this kind of care isn't just important for survivors, but essential to a resilient faith for all of us.

A big thank-you to the Longhorn IJM chapter for their generous donation of art bags to our Restore program! 🧡

Each bag was thoughtfully assembled and includes two mini canvases, a mini easel, paintbrushes, a paint palette, an acrylic paint set, and encouraging notes.

Creative expression through painting and drawing is an important part of the healing journey for survivors as their curiosities about the world and themselves grow and as they build resilience. Many of our Restore clients enjoy painting and creating outside of their sessions too. We are so grateful for this intentional donation, and our clients are already using these awesome kits!

Yesterday, Skylar* learned that what she had experienced was exploitation. Today, we had the privilege of meeting with her.

After weeks of phone calls and text messages, Skylar was ready to meet with our team for the first time. More than anything, we wanted her to know she had choices.

At Red Oak Hope, we walk alongside survivors as they decide what healing looks like for them. Whether that's connecting to benefits, finding community, working toward sobriety, or simply having someone who shows up consistently, every journey is different.
